There are alot of "what if you regret it" replies here and I agree - however, people can say the same about tattoos, they're permanent. So in on respect why not?

HOWEVER that being said, tattoos can be removed, or covered with clothing or make up when you grow old and wrinkly. A split tongue is just going to sit there for the rest of your days and when you get old and can't feed yourself properly, think about how that will affect you. Especially if you have false teeth or something!

EDIT: And also, if you know you're getting it done, I'm curious why there's a poll up in the first place? Sounds like you've got your mind made up already :)

My tattoist has this done. TBH unless you really look for it, its hard to know if he has it or not. He talks normal and even when he sticks his tongue out it looks normal except for a line down the middle. Its only when he physically separates each half that its noticable. Apparently its maga painful, he didnt talk or even open his mouth for a while after having it done.

Goodness there's alot of people asking what purpose a split would serve. Also, I'm a girl, not a guy.

Oh yeah, there's plenty of what ifs. :) The thing about a tongue split is that it can be put back together again if I regret it years down the road. It's comparably minor when stacked against many of my life choices, and if I manage to live to an age where I'm being fed by someone else, I'll be more pleased in that accomplishment than regretting something like a minor body mod.

I've got the poll up for people to express themselves. Sort of a quick reference on how the thread is going. By and large, the topic is up for discussion, not to talk some sense into my head. ;)

Alot of people are going on about what the purpose of a mod like this. What are the gains, the benefits. Honestly? Not a whole lot. With the exception that my tongue would be able to do things that would make your brain explode, it'd be the same ol' tongue. Tastes the same, talks the same, just looks and moves a little differently.

People that comment on their splits after healing say it's absolutely amazing, and they're glad they did it. :) I feel like I'd respond much the same way.

Well, hey, if you're all for causing instinctual revulsion in your partner during a session of tongue-fencing, more power to you.

Well, it's gonna give you a pretty incurable lisp when you do it. The tongue's for speaking and everything you say that involves the tongue directly is going to be altered.

I won't say that anyone wanting a split tongue is stupid or making a bad decision, but I see no upside in it and I think it looks horrible. (Not the cool kind of horrible, the cheap and irreversible kind of horrible.)

You gotta appreciate the irony of hearing something like that from a person named "Nutcase." :)

I think it's stupid, for the same reasons I think tattoos are stupid. Plus, from how you described it, I was hoping for something definitively more serpentine. I am disappoint.

A question, though. Do people who have this done ever have trouble talking? I mean, I can only imagine the trouble you'd have making the "tuh" sound with two tongue tips to flick. Reminds me of the word "Stutter" (people with a stutter have trouble saying "Stutter". People with split tongues would probably have trouble saying "tongue").

Someone above mentioned kissing - seriously - just a personal opinion, but I'd feel sick if I had what felt like two tongues jostling for my attention in my mouth!

I am just curious - how old are you?

I would never have it done, not my kind of thing.

If you want it however, then go for it.

If you really care what other people think of it then I wouldn't waste the money because you will most certainly regret it in the end, you have to have thick skin if you want to look different.

That looks awesome, just for the weird out factor. What tricks can you do with it? :p <- plus you would need your own smiley version for :p.

You would be known as "the guy with a fucked up tongue" by anyone who meets you. Could say it was an accident from drinking milkshake straight from blender (or a more hardcore story).

I like the way you can move either side about. Awesome.
Get a snake face painting at a kids birthday and scare the shit outta everyone.

I'd like my friend to get one, not me though. :p

First time I've seen this so my minds abit scattered with ideas. Sorry for the messy post :D

Do whatever you want but I'd ask your work about it first, since you're in a job that involves interacting with the public they probably won't be crazy about someone with a split tongue being their public face.
