The link isn't NSFW but probably not welcome in a work environment, no video or pictures just text.

You know the way they have "Smoking Causes Cancer" and the like on cigarette packets? Well I was reading the other day ( http://www.menshealth.com/mhlists/penis_facts/index.php#ixzz0qTEyp1sq my girlfriend sent it to me(weirdo)) and fact no. 1 kinda struck me as being the most powerful anti-smoking fact ever. Maybe I'm crazy in thinking that but I honestly believe it has the power to ward many, many men off the old smokes.

I'm not anti-smoking, smoke if you want just don't breathe it on me.

EDIT: Since people are clearly ignoring this and making up what they think I am saying I will be more forthright:

"Do you believe the prospect of erectile dysfunction, if not the total inability to perform sexually, would be a more potent message to discourage smoking?"

I am not advocating the smoker/non-smoker lifestyle, nor am I impugning the right to do either. I am simply asking that question. Thoughts are welcome so long as they involved thinking.

You could have just simply ripped that particular bit from the article and posted it here in quotes.

I think your idea that this will wane people from cigarettes is a very large overstatement. What about the man who works stressful, 14 hours days and takes several moments out of the day to light one up to deal with it all. Most likely they aren't really getting enough or doing enough themselves to warrant this to be a deterrent. As for the casual smokers, I wouldn't think they consume enough to be a major issue.

I hate Smokers.
Always getting me with their tongues/intestines as my teammates aren't looking and half my health is gone by the time they save me. Not as bad as Spitters, and don't get me STARTED on the Jockeys.....*sees OP*. Oh, that kind.

I have no idea what to make of this until we get some actual evidence but I still doubt it will prevent some people from smoking.

Hahaha...the O-face on that article...

I don't smoke anyway, although I had a dream not long ago where I did, and I have no idea why

*puff* Hmm... *puff* I stand by my choice.

As an unfortunately male smoker this doesn't bother me at all. Given all my stress my smokes are what help me keep my sanity.

And I do respect others that don't smoke by not doing it around them.

About erectile dysfunction never had any problems with it.

EDIT: This post brought to you by a smoker of 30 years.

Smokers piss me off.

If I'm talking to a fly hunny at the bar and I'm buying what she's selling, it's really disappointing to have them pull out a cig and completely turn me off. Who wants to kiss a smoker?? Not this guy.

Also, coming home from the bar, I've got smoke in my hair and all on my clothes so I gotta shower before I go to sleep or else my bed will smell like smoke. And I gotta wash my clothes before I re-wear them!!!

The smoke also makes me nauseous. It's nasty. Fuck smokers. Fuck them right in the ear.
Agreed with this cat right here. I figure there's two things you might want a woman for: a lifetime, or a little while. I don't want to spend my last couple decades as a widower, so the first is out, and I don't want to taste that poison for a little while, so the second is out too.

Full disclosure though, I'm allergic to tobacco and my parents chainsmoked. I got to breathe about six packs a day of secondhand from ages 0-17. As a result of the endless sinus infections I am now anosmic. I can't smell. Meaning I also can't taste food. I'm a little bitter about it. At least I got the last laugh since they're dead now.

I'm not quite sure why smoking is legal at all since it seems to be just about the most harmful and least beneficial substance one could consume, and its harm is not limited only to the user. I mean hell, at least weed and coke give you cool ideas, and PCP makes you a superhero. What does tobacco do for you? You're a little less hungry and nervous? Yeah, I'll walk around with nasty teeth, fingernails, skin and eyes and die a nasty death for that.

I love it when random people walk by on the street and say, "Those things are gonna kill you, ya know?"

Great.

Thanks. You just saved my life, jackass.

But no, seriously, the warnings haven't done much of anything to keep me away or drive me away. However, this crappy feeling I'm starting to develop certainly is. I have a Q-Day of Sept 1st lined up. Try #3. This time, I'm doing it for good, dammit!!!

While I wouldn't put it nearly as harsh as that, I'm inclined to agree to an extent.

If smokers want to smoke, let them. You can fuck up your body as much as you want, I don't give a shit.

Do I want to have anything to do with smokers? Sure, they can be perfectly fine people, just don't smoke around me. I'm allergic to it and will die if you do so. Besides, I don't want to smell like it.

And if I see a girl who's smoking, it makes me kinda sad especially since that completely turns me off. It's gross. I don't want to be round it.

This is part of the reason I hate being at my father's house. His girlfriend smokes. Despite me being allergic to tobacco, she still smokes. I end up smelling like smoke every goddamn time I go over there. I have to wash my clothes and shower vigorously to get the smell out before I do anything, otherwise, everything I touch ends up smelling like it.

Good luck, man.

I know it's a joke the whole back and forth of "Those things will kill you," and "Yeah, but they're fun!" but seriously, they people who say that to you aren't wrong, and take it from me, it's a nasty death. I've watched it happen twice now. I'd rather have my children get into street racing or cave diving or flamethrower dueling than smoking because at least that way you tend to die fast and clean.

I'm not saying this is the truth. I don't smoke, never have and never will so I'm specifically asking because I already know what I think. Also why just post the one part when it is always good for people to learn more?

It's pointless. It's like walking up to someone and saying, "The sky is blue, ya know?"
All I want to do is punch that kind of self-gratifying prick in the face.

I think they are making things that can "trick" a persons brain into smelling. Maybe it is all bunkum and/or humbug but it might be worth checking.

Meh. I thought the whole impotence etc... problem had been known about for a while?
Any way, I don't smoke (apart from once, whilst drunk, which I regretted instantly, if only because I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for the rest of the night until I drank large quantities of mouthwash when I got home), but yes, the knowledge that it would affect the length and/or performance of the little feller would serve to put me off about as much as the potential for lung cancer does.

A little late for that. I don't really feel the loss much most of the time. I get kind of a residual from when I can smell, like the sight of peanut butter reminds me of the smell when I was a kid. At least it keeps me from getting fat. Everything is sweet, sour, salty, bitter, or umami. I like or dislike textures, but other than that I can take or leave food.

Still, my point stands that nobody has the right to do that to a kid, or anyone else. If I had the talent for genetics, chemistry, and botany I'd be engineering a tobacco blight right now and take the decision out of all of your hands.

Well nothing is ever going to stop people doing whatever they want to if they want to... That tobacco blight idea would really change the landscape of the world though. Might even make for a good book/documentary.
