You really should have berated them right back, tell them exactly how they are such stupid parents. If they wouldn't shut up long enough for you to do this, you should simply have shouted them down with the longest, foulest stream of curses that you could possibly think of. That option might not have been very productive, but it would have been priceless, I imagine.

I'm always of the mind that ratings should be guidelines for parents, not hard and fast rules, but this is ridiculous. You don't let 6 year olds play Nazi Zombies. End of story.

Any parent who will unknowingly let their child play a more mature videogame is a FUCKING IDIOT and a bad parent to boot.

It's their fucking job as a parent to monitor and regulate this kind of activity in the same way you would a film.
Not necessarily. I played GTA3 through to 4 when I was a kid and so did my brother. We both play Call of Duty too, among others. Neither of us has been negatively affected by playing the games because we're smart enough to understand that's all they are. Being a liberal parent doesn't make you an idiot. What defines the difference is the idiots blame negative behaviour on others and don't remove the problem. My parents let me and my brother play them because they trust us to make the distinction between games and reality. If my brother was to suddenly start beating people up and trying to recreate GTA then they'd not let him play it again.

OT: Yes, they are idiots. As said in the above segment they aren't smart enough to realise that they're the ones who are voluntarily exposing their children to things and then blaming it on others. If they felt that it was to negatively affect their children then they should admit to their failings and improve on that. But, they didn't, they blamed you for something that you didn't know about. They are therefore dipshits and are one of the worst types of person.

Idiocy will always exist in all of us, in one form or another.

For instance, this thread is preaching to the choir, and announcing it could be considered a form of idiocy, although a very mild one and one that stems from impulse, caused by idiocy (what irony).

By the way, we should all know how mediocre most parents are, and how downright foolishly stupid some are. I don't have a problem with an idiot who cares - somebody my dad knows has a 3rd grade reading level, but lo and behold his daughter was on A Honor Roll - but sheer ignorance of what a game whose cover has a grisly looking dude with two guns in his hand? What the hell do you think happens, the marines and Russians go picking flowers in the garden?
now THAT's innovation!

WOW...those parents are definitely stupid...i mean...wtf? not only the game is rated M but you don't do that stuff...
Does it make me a bad person the fact that i get the sudden urge to pummel the faces of those parents with a shovel? o_O
Totally does not make you a bad person, that was my first instinct (unless we're both bad people).

I disagree with the age ratings system in general but you'd think since a parent would have had to buy it for them it'd be a pretty good guideline.

Seriosuly, don't parents notice the giant 18 on the box?

Fucking moron parents are the reason that I hate the youth of today, and I'm only 23 years old!
4 years behind you and I feel the same way.

OT: IDIOTS!

[sub]It'd be funny if it wasn't so pathetic...[/sub]
7 years back here and i have to agree, my parents let me play games rated 18 because they trust me to choose what games/films i want to see and if they would be inappropriate, until i was about 10/11 i didn't have this privelidge, and it seems to be working well, i get to play what i want and i'm morally more stable than almost anyone else i know.
until then, my parents decided what was appropriate (for the record, i've never liked nudity, egregious fanservice or huge amounts of gore, so there really isn't any risk of me choosing unwisely) and that is what is wrong here, the parents are at fault here for not looking at the game and deciding what may be inappropriate or cause inappropriate situations online (and letting kids play anything online is stupid because they are never going to be good enough to keep up with the other players and will just end up getting butchered)

I have to agree with your post whole heartily, tho I have made a few 6 year olds in my day on Counter-strike or halo that have managed to keep up with the team. Sure they weren't the best players, but as long as the team acted like a team - then everything was fine. To be honest when dealing with younger or inexperienced players, veteran players are required to assume the role of leadership. Otherwise your just going to get ****ed up. I see many veteran players make this mistake when dealing with newbies - they try to take on another team alone or try to solo it.They assume that just because the player is new, they will suck for a while, so don't bother when really, just a little prod and mostly direction is needed.

Why didn't you just kill the game or leave? Clearly you can get your friend to join again somewhere else. It's not worth arguing over the internet when its so easy to just make a new game.

Morons. Seriously. The guns on the cover should be a Very very very clear give away that it isn't appropriate for a 6 year old

In the gaming organisation im apart of we have anti profanity rules because some of our members have young kids. Their kids don't play but it possible for them to overhear us so thats why the rule is enforced. It makes for a nicer enviroment anyway.

However that said when on the internet you can't expect people to not swear, especially on a game not rated for kids. If the parents don't want their kids to hear profanity over the internet then they should use parental controls to control what they can hear and who they can talk to. Or better yet don't let them play the game in the first place.

My counter would be reporting those accounts to PSN/XBL for lying on their profile.

Ok, here we go.

my friend and i were playing zombies(black ops) on ps3 a few minutes ago. We had mics, the other two players in the game didnt(and they were guests), but they were HORRIBLE. But the two of us were having fun, messing around, joking, and occasionally raging at the other two players for constantly dying. Then all of a sudden they just start standing still. They die, then both have mics and then both of us hear, "what the hell is wrong with you!? your playing with six year old kids!". -wait what-" We are reporting you to playstation for you language!"

Now we obviously thought it was two people trolling, after all what kind of parents would let their 6 year old children play a mature rated game, then get angry and try to censor the other players because they are "corrupting their children".(it even sais online interactions are not rated by the esrb)

But, then, i hear"Mommmy we want to play!" and then "not right now baby, were taking care of something."

And then an argument ensued. I was infuriated.

my head still isnt clear, so i apologize for the quality of this post, ill elaborate more during the discussion :p

One more thing, im not for any kind of censorship, i just dont understand how someone could be so stupid. One of their final statements were, "you cant use expletives on the internet"
You TOTALLY need to ask to be that kid's friend online. That's amazing!

I can't believe the hypocrisy of some people, I mean it's so bad it's hilarious.

Honestly, what the heck is wrong with these people. Yeah, letting 6 year olds shoot each other to death in a video game is fine, but someone starts swearing and all Hell is loose?

I just don't get it. Does no one care what their kids play anymore? Seems like parents buy their kids whatever they can find these days >.<

I'm at a loss for words from the stupidity of those parents. Those parents should maybe... I dunno... LOOK AT THE RATING? Before they buy games for their six-year-olds.

Reporting you to PLAYSTATION!? HAHAHAHAHA... Oh, are they gonna be embarrassed XD
That is certainly embarrassing - everyone knows they should be reporting it to the Playstation head offices at Nintendo 360!
