Won't change. If the game meets my 1 hour per dollar criteria I buy it. If it doesn't I wait until it does or rent it, whichever is most applicable.

There's a reason I almost never buy new games anymore unless I can get them for under $10 (Steam, GOG, etc). But for physical copies on handhelds or consoles.. I refuse to buy a game for more than $30, even that's pushing it. I'll buy it a year or two later, as I have done for a very long time now.

Then again, if Used Game sales dry up, I can always play any of the 500+ games I have in backlog. If I can't get the game at a huge discount, I just don't fucking need it. A rare exception would be something that I know already had a shaky release and needs to do well.. such as Phoenix Wright or possibly Adventure Time.

There's a reason I only have a handful of games for my Xbox 360, and why I stopped buying Wii games even though I saw plenty worth being interested in. I'll probably never get to play ICO because GameStop won't stop asking 30 gods-damned dollars for a game that's scratched up in a fucking sleeve! Nevermind the exorbitant prices for it online when the friggin' PS3 version is out there. It's no surprise people are pirating more games these days, too.

Publishers are demanding too much as it is, and development costs are rising too high for games to make the proper amount in sales. If a game NEEDS to sell over 5 million copies to break even, somebody needs to realize that they're making the games WRONG.

I've been hearing a lot of people wondering if the cost of games will be going up next gen since the costs to make games are still going to increase. So, I want to know from you fellow escapists.

Would you still buy games if the cost were to go up to $69.99?
I already do not buy games at $60, so nope.

I probably would still buy games, but I would *never* pre-order. To many companies pushing out crappy games at full price.

Honestly I keep hoping these high game prices will eventually kill the console market. High prices, and constant attempts to reduce the used market?

If it's WORTH it. The typical AAA release is only worth £30 tops. Though for a truly premium game with premium content, I'm willing to pay as much as £60 if I'm certain that the work has been put into it both quality and quantity wise.

I'm Australian AND I'm a member of the PC gaming master race... so if new games dropped in price to $69.99 I'd be rejoycing - anywhere between $80 and $110 is standard here for a new release.

Anywho, actual answer is that I'd probably continue to do what I already do, which is wait (sometimes up to a year - don't have a lot of gaming time so in no hurry :p) for the price drop on the vast majority of titles.

The most I've ever spent on a single game was $30, and that was pretty high for me. So that's a no, I'd just continue to do what I always do, wait months/years for the "Complete edition" with all the DLC, then buy it on sale.

I live in Australia. So minimum price for new a new (AAA) game (for PC) is around AUD 70-80 anyway.

So if it went down to 70 I wouldn't mind.

Not at all really.
I'm in the same boat.

I usually wait a few months before I buy a new game, recently bought the Mass Effect Trilogy for $60. I'd make more use of Steam sales if my Internet wasn't so shit.

It all depends on the game in question honestly. Sony has said they don't expect game prices to go above the current price point for example and the Wii U...well the games that have been released and the ones around the corner seem to cap out at about 59.99 (some are surprisingly less expensive like Lego City Undercover). Collector's Ed's are always going to be $79 - $99 (not counting tier 2 collector's ed bundles like the inevitable Legendary Halo 5).

I don't see any game that I would pay $69 for on day one though to be honest. Watch Dogs would tempt me but I also really want Sleeping Dogs and I'm still skittish about paying $30 for that one. Alternatively if they announce a new Metroid FPS (Prime or otherwise...Ultimate Metroid...Metroid: Unstoppable) I would probably drop $99 on that if there was a good enough collector's bundle. Same with a new Star Fox but those are in the case of collector's bundles. A new Saint's Row costing $70 would only tempt me if they bring back Septic Avenger, Crowd Control and...well the other good parts of 2 that were omitted in 3.
