Biblical Jesus, maybe. Republican Jesus? Fuck him.

Though very likely not, still. I don't want a theocracy, thank you very much.

I still can't understand how americans can say that they have separation between church and the state while clearly there isn't. It should be though.
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Tripoli)

Also, the Bible doesn't teach that gays are bad; it teaches that gay acts are bad.
What 2 consensual adults do in the comfort of their own bedroom should be none of the bible's goddamn business.
I disagree. It's not just some book; it's something given to us by an omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient being.

I'm sick of hearing people saying things such as: "God doesn't belong in..." He's God. He's everywhere. If you don't think so, fine. But I definitely disagree with you.

A sin's a sin.
And someone who peeps in on your whilst you're trying to commit homosexual acts is a pervert, therefore: God == Pervert.

We don't award correctness based on Power, God being Omnipresent doesn't make him right.

On topic, no I would not vote for Jesus. He's too much of a showoff, walking on water and all that crap. Damn it, just buy a boat you scummy messiah!

No need to mention that his zombie heavy policy would run the country into it's grave.

Jesus is to pure to get involved in politics. He would not need to run for president, people would just follow the divinity.

anyways bible jesus is impossible, to many contradictions, the entity that is jesus would cease to exist to logic errors freezing the cosmoses OS.

Short answer, that was a silly question wasn't it OP?

You do realize that, when he was talking about the sermon on he mound, the idea of "turning the other cheek" at the time would be a grave insult to your attacker, right? He preached non-violence, but he never once preached that you couldn't be an absolute dick to your attackers.

Did the bible verse that i Just. Fucking. Posted. Not have Jesus say that the law still applies?
...to Jews, who were the only ones bound by the law in the first place. Are you a Jew? You're not bound by the law.

Ahhhh, I can't help but feel this should have been put in the "Religion & Politics" section - you know, since it pertains to both of those topics, and you can already see the seeds of rage beginning to boil to the surface in some of these comments...

As for the original question, it would depend on what his platform was, as would be the case for any candidate I'd consider voting for - considering it's Jesus, he'd probably have a pretty swell platform, but still, I'd weigh my options before coming to a conclusion.

Hmmm, I don't know. It probably would depend on whether he believed he was the son of God or not. I mean, he probably existed and all that but everything else? Not to mention everything we know about him is mostly records written way after his death and THOSE records have been cut and edited by the church.

If I was American I wouldn't want a man who believed he was the son of God to be President. You guys mix religion into politics more than you need to, you don't need to add to it. (Heck even the Escapist's a little guilty there; the Religion and Politics board anyone? =P)

Having said that, having a guy with Jesus's values in charge - peace on earth, goodwill to all men, etc. - might be nice for a while. At least until the economy went down the toilet. I don't believe Jesus would be a capitalist. Just saying.

(Oh and the only mention in the New Testament about gays being bad as far as I know is in S:t Paul's letters, and he never even met or heard Jesus except in a dream. And I think Jesus even implies that the Old Testament is now defunct and is now more of a history book. Or something. Could be wrong!)

Probably not. He sounds like a nice guy in the New Testament and all, but that doesn't mean he'll make a good President. You can't just be a nice guy and expect to be able to manage the country - there are loads of responsibilities, and in a WLD it's not like the government has a huge role to play anyway. Well, it depends which way you vote, but I doubt the US is anything like, say, Sweden. If he wanted to run things, he could just get his dad to make him a separate country or something.

And i'm sure that being a dick to them would totally stop them from killing the women and children.
It all depends on how you do it. There are more ways than just violence to solve a problem.

I love how your title is "High lord of trolls" - if you keep up your hostile, unnecessary, and ultimately frivolous comments at this rate, you'll certainly be living up to that name.

I would; although because I'm an atheist, I'm arguing for Jesus as the bible presents him, because for me it's that or the person I believe him to be, and mentioning my viewpoint would be just stirring up a pot of trouble. I have real issues with the church, organised religion, and anyone religious who lives in the mid-west, but the ideologies of Jesus himself are pretty sound. Love your neighbour, don't be envious, all that.

That said, St. Paul was the real politician of the bunch, so maybe he could play Cheney :p
