On the other hand, Jesus stated several times that "you shall look at the higher meaning in the book (to be a good person and make those around you happy), and not the details (stoning a gay person isnt really helping making those around you happy, eh?)". He even verbally attacked several of the high priests for not doing this, and for condemning unfortunate souls.
He also was violently angry at one point depicted in the NT. I think that your previous example would end in a similar fashion: destroy the weaponry and destroy the means to do harm, but do not harm the attackers.

Then again, im not a huge fan of the old testament, more into the new, so no reason for me to defend it. But its fun to see how mistaken people can be when they only read one line from a chapter (not refering to you, but other christians that hate gays :D )
Not your book. Why would you defend it?

Nope.

He'd be pro-Old & New Testament 'values' and I just can't support that kind of outdated, regardless of the good that may be in parts of it.

A REALLY good chocolate bar in a pile of dung is still, at least partly, covered in poo.

Being a Brit I wouldn't be able to vote for him as president, but if he ran for Prime Minister; it would be a tough call. As someome once said:

"I don't hate Jesus, it's just his fan club I can't stand"

I suspect he's a lot more contemporary and progressive than a lot of the more aggressive Catholics would have you belive.

I suspect I'd like his views on heathcare reform, but being a former Armed Forces member, I suspect he wouldn't want to be investing too much of the national budget on defence! However, I suppose if Jesus is running the country, a lot of the world is going to like you and to all those countries that don't follow the Christian faith, he'd probably be a master diplomat!

I would but only because what jesus said and what all the other guys who made up the bible after the jesus part are two different things.

Jesus would be about as far left as one could get. Hell, I'd vote for him just to troll faux news.

And someone who peeps in on your whilst you're trying to commit homosexual acts is a pervert, therefore: God == Pervert.
And everyone who has ever changed a diaper is a pedophile. We really need to get nannies and parents away from the children. Why won't SOMEONE think of the CHILDREN?

One question: Would he die for our economic sins?

EDIT: I might vote for him, but it would be kind of awkward to have a president that got assassinated and then went on to serve a second term...

This is a poll I've been curious about; knowing that a good amount of the American population that'll vote for someone because of their religion or how often they say god bless America.

So, Jesus Christ returns and runs for president.
If you need to know anymore, his stances are based on biblical teachings. Love thy neighbor (ie Mexico), gays are bad, etc.
I hate goody goody two-shoes.

You do realize that, when he was talking about the sermon on he mound, the idea of "turning the other cheek" at the time would be a grave insult to your attacker, right? He preached non-violence, but he never once preached that you couldn't be an absolute dick to your attackers.
And i'm sure that being a dick to them would totally stop them from killing the women and children.
It all depends on how you do it. There are more ways than just violence to solve a problem.
Errrrrrmmmm. No.

Once the soldiers of evilnesia are in the streets with their assault rifles, killing women and children, the really isn't a none violent way to stop them.
You honestly have no idea how to cut supply lines? No idea how to completely disarm an opponent? You don't know how to stop someone without killing them? Seriously, now you're not even thinking for more than a few moments. Please, do try a little harder.

Evilnesia dont have assault rifles! They got genetically engineered cyborg dragons to do their bidding!
Cybernetics? I sense a means to shut them down.

I'm pretty sure that "gays are bad" wouldn't be in his speeches. Outside of that, I really don't think I can fill in fictional characters in a voting ballot.
Actually, Mickey Mouse pulls in about 100 votes every four years or so...

I'm really not sure that having a deity or near deity running a country would be such a great idea, there is a very valid reason for separating church and state.

I'm an atheist, but I would vote for Jesus, because he personifies all that is good in humanity, real or not, when he came along, he got rid of all of the crap that was in the old testement and reimagined the bible as the new testement (or at least it came about as a result of his teachings), he would preach tolerance and all that is good, I don't think he would teach that "gays are evil" as those sorts of writings were written at a time when everyone was intolerent of everyone else, as a race, we've come a long way since then, and I believe that should the second coming occur, Jesus' views would reflect how we've changed as a society.

However, Jesus running as president is perhaps a double edged sword, while his views and beliefs are something we should all follow, certain aspects of presidency such as the economy, are not something I would look to Jesus for, as his ideals are all based on social interaction, and a greater sense of pupose, for things that are beyond us as humans, as well as being nice to each other. Jesus may ask us to look at who we are as human beings, but I can't imagine him being the sort of person who would want to trouble himself with things such as money, that is better left to someone else, with a certain mindset, Jesus is about the personal level.

To which Jesus are we referring? The old-school biblical one? The Gnostic version? The theoretical one from The Man From Earth (good movie, btw)? I might vote for him, depending on who he claimed to be.
