Poll: If someone walked into your room, could they tell that you are a gamer?

Yes, I've got an Xbox 360, two controllers for it and a PS2 under my television and the pre-order map of Skyrim on my wall. Okay, my answer depends on the person's intelligence.

They might be distracted by the ammo cans sitting open on my floor, but I do have enough in my room to identify me as a gamer. Alternatively, they could look to their right when entering my apartment and see my 360 by my TV.

Probably not. Most of my gaming paraphernalia is downstairs, including my PC. The only gaming-related things in my room are boxes of DS games and a boxed Wii stashed under my bed.

Have most of my games on steam on a laptop with a couple of monitors, funnily enough my roommate thought I was some kind of computer hacker when he saw my set-up for the first time.

Definitely not, I have nothing which overly points to me being a gamer, if anything my room shows that I'm a computer guy, dual screen, giant desktop, test powersupply sitting on desk always hooked up ready, countless fans in a box, computer component boxes on top of my cabinet.

The only thing which shouts gamer is a 360 (currently dismantled) and a 360 controller for my pc (and xbox).

First thing you would notice while coming in my room are a PC, laptop, PS3, PS2 a Gamecube and a table in the corner showing the more rarer games I own. And I have a Xbox 360 downstairs plugged in a HD tv. And the rest of the games I own are not hidden either.

The PC, Sega Mega Drive, Super Nintendo, PS1 & PS2 all plugged in. Between the cabinet with the tv on it and the computer desk is a mass of cables and one wall is dedicated shelf space with three rows of shelves filled to capacity with games for all systems.

Kinda. I got a moderate sized LCD HDTV in my room with a 360 and a Gamecube hooked up to it. No games for either in site though, I keep those downstairs. I also got a gaming PC in my room, but you couldn't tell if it was a gaming one or not unless you looked inside it (the case is an HP case for a computer my parents bought for themselves several years ago. It still has the sticker listing it's really outdated and craptasitic specs on it.).

I am so sick... of this stupid word... People who watch movies are not called "Watchers". People who read books are not called "Readers". And, for that matter, you don't "Game" games. You play them. "Gamer" is not a proper verb or even an actual word.

Anyway, considering I have all these stacks of PC games on my desk shelf, and there are gigantic Super Mario Bros. graphics on my wall and door, I think anyone walking in could figure out that I happen to play a lot of videogames.

hate to be that person...buuuuuut

I think its clear there is often a difference between your average consumer of entertianment and an "enthusiest"

art films/festivals, people who are really into the culture surrounding a type of music...and in this case I think the only difference here is we have a name for it

much like people call themself Metalheads or (god forbid) Juggalos when it comes to music

that said even though I fit most descriptions of that people would call a "gamer" I don;t like calling myself that

Nope. My parents have well since established that there is no gaming, and thus no gaming devices, in your rooms. I don't own any gaming accessories either to help identify it.

I do have tons of space stuff since I was nine because come on, space is fucking cool.

I have two picture frames on my desk, one is a picture of my husband and I in costume which was taken at Comic Con two years ago, the other is a smaller frame with a screenshot of my main WoW toon. I also have a bunch of the WoW figures on my desk, well, they are spilling over on to my coworkers desk because we have set up a Horde vs Alliance diorama across the tops of our computers. I also have the Diablo figures fighting on the low cube "wall" separating our desks.

I have a Black Mesa mug holding my pens and an Aperture Science water bottle which I fill with ice water every morning.

And I have a Lego Harry Potter calendar. I think that's all the gaming stuff I have on my desk at the moment...
