Personally I will always go with Red (Destroy). As Shepard once said "I won't let fear compromise who I am".

I picked Blue since I thought even though I would destroy the relays that at least I can give everyone a handy taxi service with the Reaper ships. Something like that anyway.

Personally, I think they should have gotten creative and gone for a 4th option where the explosion was yellow. That would have added the variety we needed.

Blue/Control. I fought hard to let the geth become their own people, I won't sacrifice them simply for my own survival.

Destroy

Control goes against what my Shepard thinks and Synthesis just makes no fucking logical sense.

I mean what's stopping the new hybrid race from creating a brand new synthetic race which will one day kill off their makers (because that is always what happens according to Stargod)

It comes down to a choice between Blue and Green for me, as Red is out of the question since it kills the Geth, and my Shepard operates on a strict 'Say No to Genocide' policy. While Blue certainly offers the most definitive positive ending, what with the Reapers securing galactic peace and prosperity and offering huge scientific advancement, the possibilities that Green entails are too enticing to pass up. There is so much potential in the radical change presented there - how have the rules of mortality changed? Can you 'interface' with others, or your environment? Can you augment yourself? To what extent are you immediately changed by these events? Story-wise, it opens up whole avenues of possibilities, with different people and races coming to terms with their new situation and discovering what they can do, and that's too good to pass up.

Which is why it frustrates me to NO END that ALL the info you get on that is 'It's synthesis - organic + synthetic, Woo-ooh-ooh'. (Grumbles to self and walks away)

I can't choose Red as it kills the Geth. Also, because I'm spiteful I can't choose control, as that would mean admitting that TIM was right.

So that leaves me with Synthesis, which makes no sense but whatever.

I would probably go with destroy, even if it wipes out the geth and EDI. My Shepard believes until the very end the Reapers are wrong and this cycle has proven to be able to withstand almost anything. So even if eventually the Reapers' prediction will come true, I believe it can be handled.

Assuming that the mass relay explosion dident kill almost everyone in the galaxy (as the destruction of the alpha relay destroys a solar system shouldn't all the others?), i would say control makes the most sence, instant end to the battle, and other than the loss of the relays (and shepard), its the only one that i can see that allows the series to continue on, the destroy also effects most tech (not just the geth / reapers) basically putting the galaxy into a dark age, and while the synthsis ending is kinda cool to see, it dosent make any sence...

Then again do any of these endings?

Edit: This theory seems to make the ending fit in an overly complex kinda way, however if true i think it would also be a briliant end to ME, see link below.

Destroy.

This is bigger than Shepard. Everyone wants to destroy the Reapers. The Prothean wants vengeance, humanity demands retribution, and remember that the Reapers are sentient. They made their choice, and so did we.

I mean, the real ending is totally that Shepard was indoctrinated, but Destroy feels like it respects the sacrifices of your allies the most.

Sure, it might kill the geth, but with 5K military might, it doesn't even kill Shepard. Maybe it only works on large energy sources, like the relays and the reapers.

I see so many people clinging to that now. It's kind of endearing, being so deep in denial...

I avoided destroy for reasons alluded to by other posters. Sythesis seemed like the most altruistic choice at the time, so I went with that. Maybe shep will pull a Doctor Manhattan. More likely, it's an "I am Tetsuo" kind of deal.

Synthesis the first time, I read theories on indoctrination and redid it choosing destroy. As it stands I am torn.

No one should have the power that Control gives, even Shepard, and organic life should evolve on its own. That's what stopping the Reapers is for. Merging synthetics and organics is fundamentally the same thing the Reapers were doing, just without ending the cycle. So destroy.

I'm fairly certain that Synthesis will end up being accepted as 'canon' for future games, so that's what I'll go with.
As it currently stands, they can't do any future games. The destruction of the Mass Relays means all races are about to enter a massive dark age, which will certainly see the ends of some races. Prequels maybe or spin offs between ME1 and ME2 or something sure, but they've shot themselves in the foot for anything after ME3.

Edit:

On topic, Control. It's the only option that allows for the most races of the galaxy to continue life unaltered. Synthesis still makes little sense, and Destruction serves only as a temporary solution which I think will cause more harm in the long run.

Even though it cripples the galaxy and destroys the Geth, I think red is the best option. That way all the races can start to rebuild slowly (and maybe salvage some Reaper tech to reverse engineer new Mass Relays). I did feel bad about the Geth, though. And stranding the Turians and Quarians without any edible food.
