The Jedi aren't allowed to marry or have a partner as far as I know, so the Dark side it is.
New Jedi Order can.

I'd be neutral, or just do whatever I could to get the Sith powers (choke, lightning, etc.) without being inherently evil. Like Kyle Katarn.

[HEADING=1]DARK [/HEADING] Their powers > than the light side

Just cause people are choosing the dark side powers doesn't necessarily make them ''evil''

Dark - red saber, force lightning and you can easily choke a *****

I mean the most light can do is struggle to make a saber come into your hand

Let's work this out:
1. The dark side isn't more powerful, but it is easier
2. There are only two, an apprentice and a master.

Judging from this I would basically be rogue, that way I keep the dark force powers and don't have to worry about job security...

I wouldn't really pick a side I would be like how the Netherlands have always been; neutral. And I know that some people think you're a sissy when you do that but I think it's just smart to go your own way.

If you threw in the force into our world all of a sudden, then i think many would go dark side. The main reason for this would be that normal people haven't done any exercises to find peace and serenity. So their unbound emotions coupled with newfound power would twist a lot of them.

But giving it some time, i believe people in the real world would lean towards the light side once everything settled down. I wouldn't be surprised if a unusually large bunch would be neutral though, mostly scientific thinkers would go that path i think, while the spiritualists would go light side.

I'm going to be too nerdy about this. The Jedi were at fault for people falling to the Dark Side just as much as the Sith were. The Jedi try to shut out all their emotions. They teach that it is bad to have feelings, and that they should never be attracted to another person. The fact that they bury their feelings so much and never acknowledge them again is the reason so many Jedi flame out and go on a killing spree. Also their tendency to be chronic liars [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JediTruth] to their students contributes a lot.
Not gonna argue against that. The Jedi code is pretty flawed ^^ I think Luke altered in the EU, haven't read any novels though so I'm not certain. There's some real dodgy stuff there. Especially, like you said, that they are basically forced to suppress their feelings, I guess it works for some people (look at Buddhist monks), but it doesn't seem like a very pleasant thing. Once again I'm perhaps looking too deep into this, it's not real, and probably not meant to make any sense to begin with xD

Light Side. I'm a nice guy. I happen to be saddened by the lack of Force Lightning, which is a power that should belong to the Light Side, seeing as you can't spell lightning without light.

I've never understood the appeal of being evil. I mean sure, sometimes I can be mean and I have my flaws, but I'm certainly not malicious or malevolent. I might sin but not intentionally. It just seems stupid buying yourself a ticket to Hell and gaining nothing but remorse, shame and guilt from the journey.
....that is if one believes in hell :p I would be 100% deep fried EVUL, means you can do watever the fuck you want plus theres none of those jedi rules holding you back. And to those choosing neutral, grow some backbone! the other name for neutral is "wait untill you see who wins then join em". On the point of saber colour im thinking black :) i dont care if its impossible! I WANTS!!

So My friends and I got into a discussion that if the force was real that most of the people in the world would be more likely to embrace the dark side than the light side. I said this due to the fact that people are self-centered and egomanciacle as well as emotional. So this in My eyes mean that more people would be Siths opposed to Jedi. My friend disagreed and said that more people would be neutral or light side because there are not that many truly evil people. I would like to know what you here at the escapist think.
I'd definitely be light side, but not for a blind "BECAUSE I IS GUD" way, but in the end I want to die knowing I did more good than evil, as it is existentially satisfying to my atheistic worldview.

Also it just seems more practical, if we're following the "Knights of the Old Republic" model of force usage. I'd need to be using light-side powers much more often than dark/neutral powers in the day to day. It's more efficient that way.

darkside then again i think neutral dark would be more correct because very few freethinking people can see things in only black and white i.e. people who only deal with extremes. dark neutral because most people are assholes and the rest are douchebags

Dark. I think most of the world would lean that way, without going too far. It's the difference between misuse of Force Persuasion and Force Push/Pull for comedic effect, and Force Lightning/Choke. I think the world would turn out like "Disney goes to the Dark Side."

i would use my power for self gain, and who in their right minds would be on the "light" side, because they are emotionless shells who cant date anyone. Wheres the fun in that? And aside from anikins murder of small children, what did the sith do that was evil? They fought the rebels, as is expected in war. Their was no "good" side, only people killing each other. For all we know the rebels could have been a group of neo-fascists... why were they the "good" side?

The dark side. It has more powers and is just too cool. Plus, the dark side gives you more freedom than the light side.
