Why get an XBone when I have a PC that can still play the same non-exclusive games at similar or better performance in a control format I'm comfortable with and prefer?

I haven't gotten a 360 and haven't touched my PS3 in months.

I'd like to know the black rights necessary to summon a PC for $500 that can push the kind of graphical fidelity of an Xbone.
Obviously, you can't, because MS is selling the system at a loss. But for about $200 more, you sure as shit can get one of the quality TheYellowCellPhone is referring to. Besides, by the time any must-have games come out, that $200 extra is going to have shrunk a bit, or be worth a $400 performance increase, depending on the advancement of tech.

I wouldn't buy it, based purely on the fact that my 360 has done nothing but gather dust for about two years, and only ever gets used when I want to do another playthrough of Shadow Complex.

The PS3 had its ups and downs, but I ultimately found it to be the better designed, better laid out console and I actually found features like the Blu-Ray player useful, as opposed to the 360 forcing Bing down my throat.

I also like the fact the PS3 doesn't charge me money to use features completely unrelated to it, like Netflix (seriously, Microsoft can just fuck off, for that one.)

All in all, I think Sony have the stronger track record and, when I do finally get round to buying a next gen console, I will be pitching my tent in the Sony camp; barring any major fuck ups.

Eventually, yes. But in my capacity as a collector and not as a gamer.
Meaning I'll probably buy one used or at a severe discount in a few years and then put it into the display case next to the Vectrex and the Pong machine.

Much like Nintendo, I'm having a very difficult time plopping down the cash for a new console that I'm not likely to buy a lot of games for.

For my own preferences I usually find that the Playstation consoles have always enjoyed a significantly wider selection of games and exclusive titles that I'll actually play.

Some of the more interesting features of the xbone are inextricably linked to the DRM. Like sharing games or the possibility of being able to redownload games even if the disc has been lost or damaged. The retention of those features is something that would really set it apart from the PS4 for me. Otherwise at this time, there's not really any exclusive games or features that would make me want to buy either.

What would really turn the xbone around is if playing games offline from a disc was an option and people could chose to register the game in order access the cool features mentioned above or not. A new game would have an an 'unregistered status' by default which would change if the user chose to register it, and in order to trade/sell it they would need to uninstall the game and switch the status back the 'unregistered'. That way if/when servers go offline everyone would be able to play their games from the disc and people without internet could still use the console. I guess keep the 24 hour check-in for registered games, but allow a person to still play that game from the disc when they are offline. (When I say from the disc, that could just mean that the disc is used for authentication as it is now on the 360, but the game can/must? still be installed to the HD for faster load times).

But to answer the OPs question simply, if they suddenly removed all the DRM and online requirements, I wouldn't rush out to buy it, however I wouldn't rule the possibility out entirely (especially if devs do awesome things with the kinect like monitor heart rate to adjust difficulty/scare factors, or read your expression in RPGs or something).

Possibly. But it would need a price drop and more interesting games than what I can find on Wii U and PS4, and an online at with as many benefits as PS+. And Microsoft needs to say they're sorry for all the bullshit they've announced. And allow indies to self-publish. And make the Kinect optional.

If it was just a enhanced 360 like the ps4 is a enhanced ps3 sure. I liked the 360 and first xbox alot dispite there problems. Thats why ive been so pissed at microsoft lately, just feels like they plunged a knife in my back with the xbone and every new bit of info or statement they make is just twisting the knife further in.

Eh... It'd still be in the "Maybe, but closer to No".

There are two more things they'd need to get rid of first:

- The always snooping kinect, that can't be turned off
- The $100 more dollars for a system that is less powerful then the PS4

Take away those two and I'd consider it.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Ehh, maybe but probably not, I already have a powerful comp and really the only next gen system thats tempting is the WiiU since I loved bayonetta and the new xenoblade game looks awesome, plus its backwards compatible with the wii so its already got a nice sized library.

No, probably not but it would be a start.
It's just that the Kinect is completely useless to me, it costs a lot and isn't optional.
Plus the indie self publishing and the fact I trust Sony a little bit more as a company I have no reason to buy one.

If Sony stabs me in the back I'll probably just stick with PC.

I have no problem with the DRM anything else about the xbox. My only reason for leaning towards a ps4 is the price, so it would change nothing for me.

Fighting games, specifically capcom fighting games, that is the only reason I might buy a console when they are released. It seems every platform and even handhelds are good enough for MvC 3 but not the PC.

The DRM sucks, but the Kinnect is still a deal breaker.

Mirror's Edge 2 is coming out on the PS4 so there's no reason at all for the Xbone to exist

No, I made that decision long before the negative rumors surrounding it were starting.

I've had enough bad experiences with Microsoft during this past generation, so I don't want to deal with them for another one. Not to mention that since I've been migrating over to PC, my 360 has been doing nothing but sitting around and collecting dust... unless I want to play the Mass Effect games again. There is a reason I call my 360 the "Mass Effect Machine" these days.

I still prefer the games on the ps4. Sure all the crap is a factor, but I am mostly going ps4 because of games(namely Infamous).

I find myself repeating this in most threads about the console. As far as I can see I have no reason to actually buy one and a few reasons not to buy it. Remove the DRM and most of those reasons disappear, but there's still no reason for me to buy one.

If they just announced a game I really wanted I would probably buy it even with DRM. I kinda hope it wont come to that though.

The Kinect is dumb, and I don't want it. There aren't any exclusives that I really care much about. And I have absolutely no interest in multitasking through a single device when I can already do so with devices I already own, thus saving me $500. (More like $100 when time comes to buy a PS4.)

So no. I never have and never will have any intention on buying an Xbone.

Let's say (theoretically, as the following is rather unlikely to actually happen) Microsoft announces to revoke any DRM from the console itself in an attempt to bring back customers after the backlash on the internet. Would you buy it?

As for me, honestly, I would (when the price goes down, $500 is kinda pricy). With plenty of decent exclusives coming out and the rather interesting stat tracking system (I can't help it, I love number!), it would be rather cool piece of technology to have. The auxiliary tv features are also a plus for me.
I have all consoles of this generation and every playstation (other than PSPGo), so yes I would buy it along side my PS4 and (someday) Wii U, but only if the connect online, Kinnect required to be plugged in etc crap was removed.

Nope, I'm going to get a PS4 and a WiiU and the Xbone doesn't offer me anything I want I can't get for those consoles. Same reason I have a PS3 and a Wii but no 360.
