The force.

I can take a sword and kill someone now, I don't need a lightsaber to do that.

Well, the problem about going to the dark side is that you can only have 2 of you at any time, one master and one apprentice. Well...except if Luke joined, then there'd be 3, I guess. And before Anakin joined there was only 1...hmmm...

Have you missed the concept of Palpatine's apprentice always slaying the old one? Anakin killed Tyranus and took his place as Vadar. Luke would have turned had he defeated Vadar in the battle at the end of the film. Also no one says there can ONLY be 2 just that there are always AT LEAST 2.

The Jedi can't bang without going to the Dark Side it seems. Screw that.
Eh, there's plenty of casual Jedi sex going on all over the extended universe. The trick is not getting too attached.
If you look closely, that's just because after you've taken it up the bum from the council for 25 years, and become a master yourself, you're more equal than the other jedi, and equal enough to have fiancees, break the dresscode and wear bling bling on your lightsaber.

I'd choose the Force. Since you have to get close to someone to use the lightsaber, the force would provide some distance from target.

I would be a sith. Much better clothes.
That's true. Why does it always seem like the bad guys get the coolest gear and clothes?

I suppose I would choose the force. All of the other things don't mean much without it. The reason a Jedi knight is so ungodly proficient with a lightsaber is because he uses the force when he wields it. The same is true for inhuman reflexes when flying a spaceship. So i guess you can't truly have a Jedi's abilities with a lightsaber or spaceflight without the force.

EDIT: Broken Poll.
I always just assumed they would have changed that after Return of the Jedi. Luke and Leia are now the only two Jedi responsible for rebuilding the organization, and Leia's already in a relationship. I also sort of assumed she'd have more say in the rules/laws, as she's the only one with political experience.

Short version: Leia writes new rules in order to stay with Han. (Who among us wouldn't do the same?)

How are you a jedi without the force anyway? You canb't wield a lightsabre without cutting your own arms off without it.

The Force, since you'd still probably cut your arm off with the lightsabre, even after training.

Ill go with the force, you can't even use the saber without the force it would just be a glaring beam of light with no control otherwise. If you get a space ship, where are you going to go? warp speed into nowhere or a star. who needs armys anyways.

who wouldn't pick the force? light sabers are cool and all but doesn't using one correctly require the force anyway?

Meh. I never liked the idea of 'telekinesis', even though moving things from a distance: awesome. It does take focus, I will grant you, but I never saw having to wield the Force as a requirement to use a saber. (Besides, we can only choose one, according to the title.)
Wookipedia said:
Due to the weightlessness of plasma and the strong gyroscopic effect generated by it, lightsabers required a great deal of strength and dexterity to wield, and was extremely difficult?and dangerous?for the untrained to attempt using. However, in the hands of an expert of the Force, the lightsaber was a weapon to be greatly respected and feared. To wield a lightsaber was to demonstrate incredible skill and confidence, as well as masterful dexterity and attunement to the Force.
Sure you can be trained to use is it but you couldn't do it as well. You wouldn't have the finesse and/or strength that comes with being attuned to the force. Moving on, there is more you can do than just throw things at your enemy(though that would be fun too). My plan was to collapse their lungs or make an aneurysm rupture. Although I don't know why you would be fighting a gang of people in the first place.

WOPR said:
If you read it, it said "Lightsaber with training" so it could be wielded (in this sense)

jeeze people it's a choice thing, no need to get technical... it kinda shows that you have a problem if you start yelling "you can't do this without this" in a hypothetical post.
I'm not getting technical. Getting technical would be looking up lightsabers on Wookipedia and going "See?! you CAN'T use a lightsaber without the force!". I am just thinking looking at the pros and cons of each. I wasn't mocking your choice; I was curious about it.

What about the Old Republic days or the Jedi/Sith Wars? There were equal numbers of Sith then.
