In the future, if you were having a baby & doctors told you he/she would be gay/straight; but they had the ability to switch genes so he/she would be straight/gay. Would you do it, or would you leave your baby the way the genes naturally occurred?

*note: I am NOT equating homosexuality to a disease that needs to be cured. NOR am i implying any discrimination towards homosexuals. This is a hypothetical.

I don't care what sexuality my kid is as long as it doesn't cause him to fuck up in life.
So I wouldn't change the genes.

I would tell the doctor to not even tell me I want my son or daughter to surprise me with their personallity, sexual orientation and character flaws.

So I wouldn't change the genes. And, it isn't in genes.
Homosexuality is a choice.
Ah this is where your wrong, to an extent. You see the scenario that the OP stated is acually a real scenario, it happens a good amount. There is proof that there are some genes that make a child be gay/lesbien, its still a choice but these genes make the child more likely to be drawn to the same sex, aka being gay.

Sexuality isn't something in your genes. If that was the case the so called "homosexual" gene would've died out ages ago.

And no, I wouldn't change it.

I would change the genes to straight not that I have things against gays but I want to have things in common with my son and I don't know any gay/camp people who like football.

Where is the option for the fact Homosexuality is a choice, not a matter genes.
Well I'm guessing that option isn't there because it's complete bollocks.

OT: Leave them how they are. I understand why some might make it straight, bullying and whatnot, but it'd feel wrong to me.

I wouldn't change it, instead I'd use that kind of gene-altering power to make him/her a genius, or at least free of birth defects if any are present.

Homosexuality is a choice.

Nope, I'll explain to avoid any confusion here.

Do you control when you get an erection? (Besides choosing when you look at porn)
Because I'm gonna assume you get one when you look at erotic images of naked women, a gay guy doesn't get the same reaction, he doesn't choose to get an erection by looking at naked guys just as you don't choose, to be honest the idea that it's a choice is just ignorant and offensive.

Despite the fact that your sexual orientation is a choice, and not genetics-based, we'll play this game.

I would not touch the genetics of my child at all, regardless of the changes it could make. I say let nature take it's course.

I wouldn't change the genes but I completely disagree with people who say it's a choice, because it's really really not. My best friend is gay and the very fact he's attracted to his own gender terrifies him, it's not something he'd choose. And harsh as this sentence may seem we've all seen or heard someone we judged to be gay. For example a common trait is to have a higher voice, do you choose the pitch of you're voice when you choose you sexual orientation? There's just so many ways the idea of them choosing it is wrong I don't even know where to start.
