Not forever, but for a quite prolonged amount of time, yes. Enough to determine the fate of the human race, and to wipe out as many of its idiots as I could.

But thats the key with this poll. I thought about adding the option for living an extended life but decided that would be a boring choice because almost everyone would pick it. So you get to choose live forever (at peak age) without the choice to end your life or a normal 80-100ish years.

Then I think I'd probably choose a normal life. I'd get bored otherwise.

What sort of immortality?

Aging/Non-aging?

"Elf" Immortality (won't die of old age, but an arrow to a squishy bit will still finish you) / Highlander Immortality (can survive anything to doesn't involve removing your head from shoulders - including ability to walk under water etc) / True Immortality (Can do what they like, where they like, would survive a nuklear blast etc).

Feel pain? Don't feel pain?

Too many factors!

*brain melts*

That means an eternity alone on a dead planet or a burned out star. Nothing lives forever, except in this case, you.

I'd never want to go on forever. Screw that. I have enough of a tough time with humanity now, let alone having to see it destroy itself Completely through folly.
I know exactly what you mean mate. But think of it this way: if you live forever there's a good chance you actually get to enjoy some peace and quiet from the rest of humanity because mankind have wiped itself out through said folly. That'd be pretty sweet wouldn't it? :p
Perhaps, but then I wouldn't have internet or cable. That'd suck.

You mean I can't kill myself?

Well that sucks.

No I wouldn't want to unless I could end it when I please.

I difinately wouldn't want to live forever. I'd for sure love to live LONGER - but not forever.

Eternal Life is just something that most people would think they would like; but after a while - all immortal's wish they were dead.

I wouldn't mind "Elvish" immortality though - where I wouldn't die of natural causes; but could be killed.

Asides from that - fuck immortality. (Although it'd be kinda cool to go teraforming planets for the rest of eternity)

I'd chill out, oversleep every morning, never hurry. Relax man, you've got all the time in the world.

No middleground? Just normal or eternity? Personally I think a figure around a thousand years would be pretty nice assuming that the ravages of old age didn't reduce me to a drooling, incontinent, husk. With a thousand years on hand I'd have time to develop my intellect to the point that I could become the most profoundly brilliant human being in the history of the species and still have time to learn the guitar. But; living for eternity would quite literally be a living hell. For starters simple repetition would eventually render everything completely familiar and mundane after a while to the point that I could no longer be entertained or surprised by anything. On top of that I would outlive the rest of the human race; which would leave me feeling very much alone. Then it would just be a matter of twiddling my thumbs for a couple billion years while I waited for the heat death of the universe.

I'd love to live forever. I'd just learn a load of stuff and keep learning until I was extremely intelligent, then I'd teach people, then after about 100 years I would just sit back, play video games etc. and watch the human race progress and if there was an apocalypse, I would be able to teach any survivors. xD

To live forever would be great, just to see how Mankind grows, to watch it expand out into the universe and perhaps meet aliens. Just knowing that you'd get to see these things would be exciting in itself.

However...once the Human Race dissapears, I'd be in a bit of trouble. I'd have invented a Tardis by then though, so it's ok :p

Just because your body doesn't age it doesn't necessarily mean you are invulnerable, so therefore I am sure you could still be killed. Or that is how it is for the elves anyway.

But yeah I would love to live forever since then I would finally be able to see the end of this sorry saga called humanity. And ride with the horsemen!

I'm happy with my mortality. Especially after reading Death Is an Acquired Trait, a short story by Mike Resnick about a race of immortal being doomed to the boredom of forever roaming the universe.
