To live forever/indefinitely is the logical choice.
Those who answers that they don't want to live forever say that because they know they will not.
Either to sound cool or to make themselves feel better about their certain death.

I don't think so. Friends and family growing old and dying and then more of the same. Just feeling the pain of their deaths. Doesn't sound so great to me, even though I might get used to it.
If I can have someone with me, then maybe. But there's no guarantee that that person would want to be with me forever. So no. I don't want to be immortal.

Who lives forever, anyway?

--

If I were to live forever, complete with invulnerability, I'd probably end up going mad after the eventual demise of the human race. What I'd do is: I'd somehow shoot myself into space, then go into a deep sleep as I drifted, frozen, through the universe. Upon landing on a populated planet somewhere in the far reaches of space, I'd appoint myself deity numero uno and establish a new world order.

Either that, or I'd set out to destroy all life in the universe.

You're damn right I would, so long as I get eternal youth as well. It would be cool to live forever and obtain infinite wealth and power since I would not die from hunger or other illnesses thus outliving all my enemies. MUAHHHAHAHA

It would be great to live for about 200 years, then after that I think it wouldn't be worth it anymore.

I'd love to see how everything changed and stuff! But I bet I'd get bored/lonely after a while and just kill myself, rendering the whole thing redundant.

They say life is too short, but living forever would be pretty hard. You'd live years like they were days, and you wouldnt be able to attach to someone because they'd eventually be dead. I wouldnt want that.

Live to see all my friends and loved ones die away from me?
loose my girflriend of age... lose my enemies from age, staying young forever.
are we talking imoratallity or just "not-being-able-to-die-from-oldness"?
cause if it were total imoratallity, well. Id start jump out from planes witoit a paracshhot, armed only with a knife, to kill people who are a threat to humanity. Id be gordon freaking freeman with godmode. hells yeah

I'm too fucking scared of dying..

Plus even if the universe collapsed on itself and nothing was left... surely that would be still be better than death?

How does one even quantify forever, the human mind is incapable of retaining a lifetime (less than 100 years) worth of memories without forgetting and distorting those memories. This little rock we live on has been floating around for what? 4.5 billion years and is good for another 4.5 billion before the sun burns out. If we are talking about true immortality and being indestructible (imagine living forever with no legs, or as a quadriplegic) you would have to deal with the ramifications of the constantly being hunted by the mortals to that want to steal your power... and again this is just within the first few hundred years of out living the normal people... I don't think anyone could stay sane for more than 2 or 3 lifetimes before trying to find a way to fire them self into the sun, or jumping into a volcano, yadda yadda yadda.
The concept of immortality is fun to imagine because no matter how much you dream you will never have to experience the horror of living it. Just another reason why I think if there is a 'god' that it has little to no care or attachment to us lowly specs as we go about our petty day dreaming as to what it would be like to live a day in its shoes.
On that note, I am off to enjoy the day ^_^
Best of luck in keeping your sanity you immortals!

I wouldn't choose immortality unless I could have it as well for my friends and family. It would really suck to be the only person "making" it and see everyone you care and love for fade away and die.

I think I can say with absolute certainty that given a limitless time frame I could engineer, mold and craft a vehicle capable of interstellar travel. After a full century of fact checking and reworking the mathematics of the mission It'd be time, time to leave the atmosphere that nursed me and take that 1.5 billion year journey to reach the next habitat suitable to my needs... Although after a 150 million lifetimes of playing I spy with myself it's hard to say what shape I'll be in.

Hell no is the short answer to this question.

It would get too boring and fucked up but I don't think I could rage quit from life.
