I've thought about it very carefully before now but I wouldn't want to leave my family and friends, not to mention my job. I'm very happy where I am and I don't think I could find that anywhere else.

Wow, trying to copy my thread called WHERE DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD? I see! I'll let you off the hook and turn the other way for now...but do it again and I will flag you for copying others' ideas.
Dude, your thread is currently languishing on the sixth page of threads and hasn't had a reply in nearly a week, so it's hardly obvious. He probably didn't even know your thread existed.

[small]Also, just some friendly advice - you may want to chill out with the jumping to conclusions and threatening to report people (I've seen you do it a couple of times now). It's really not necessary and you'll probably enjoy your time here much more if you don't assume the worst about everyone :)[/small]

OT: As I said in the other thread, I would very much like to move from the UK to New Zealand for a whole bunch of reasons (mostly sperm whale-related), and I plan on spending at least a year there after I graduate.

Moving from where I am right now, or just moving from where I've spent a lot of time (e.g., where I grew up)? Because I've done the latter. Perhaps twice based on definition - I've first moved from my home town to another country. That was 5 years ago - more recently (as in, slightly more than 6 months ago) I moved to a new city, too.

As for whether I'd move from where I am now - dunno. If I could (as in, have all the means - both material and stuff such as language) I might move to Sweden or Norway - I like those countries. Not sure whether I'd want another places but I might also consider Australia or other locations in Europe. Of course, those would require a good enough reason for me to move, I won't just pack up and go like that, I guess.

I don't know. I know I don't particularly want to move to any other city in Scotland, I enjoy Dundee.

As for other countries, provided I had a reason or the resources to, I wouldn't mind living in Canada, certain parts of America or, if I could learn the language, Sweden.

But yeah, I'd have to have reason to move to these places, I don't particularly want to just up and leave.

Well, unless moving from the country into the big city counts as moving in here, I'd say I'd either move to Toronto (spits at the thought) for work opportunity, New York for work opportunity, hell, if I got the job before moving, even Boston (I know Boston and New York seem like it should fall into "other country", but given the distance and cultural differences between where I live and the 3 options, the difference is pretty much the same). I also wouldn't mind moving to Australia, though given my French with a very slight native background I'm not sure how much Australia would want me (assuming the almost certainly false jokes are true)

I think I'd quite like to spend a significant portion of my 20's living elsewhere in the UK or abroad. If abroad, China or Hong Kong because I have friends and contacts out there, or more closer to home on continental Europe, Austria or Germany sound nice. I'd happily settle for the long-run on mainland Europe, but not HK or China because of the lower standards of living and the political and education systems they have over there. Most likely though I'd return to the same sort of area of the UK I came from, but it depends on a lot of factors like were my friends, family and job opportunities are.

Well, I have already got my flat rented in China. So, yes, I am willing to move to another country.

I don't necessarily want to move as I currently live in a really nice part of the UK and am relatively close to friends and family. But if the housing shortage isn't addressed within a couple of years, then moving to another country is probably my only option of ever owning a house, and it's something I will seriously consider. I like the UK but there are very few incentives to live here if you're a young adult.
This is very, very true. The more I read about the US and UK, the less I understand why us youngin's hang around. It's built up so we have to be very lucky and very exploited to succeed, but abroad we have a distinct advantage and generally a better education, and if you're willing to go outside your comfort zone and also to develop a good skill, you can make a good life.

But here, in the UK? There are basically no jobs; there are basically no houses. You're treated like scum for being young in the work and public environment. I can admit it's a nice country. Once I've made money and I've got a good job sorted out with a decent enough pay-check to afford it, I'll consider returning to reasons outside of family.

But for now, good bye Britainnia, try not to let the BNP lead the country.

Yes. To all three poll options.

My city is okay. But not a lot of fun things to do out here.

I definitely wouldn't mind being somewhere new.

You wouldn't have any trouble. Australia is fairly multi-cultural. I'd say the only difference is that your French-Canadian accent would grant you more opportunities to get laid.

OT: Hmmm well I've only been living in my current country/city for 9 months now so I'm not quite ready for a change yet, but I would be willing to move somewhere with a nice beach within the same country.
I like beaches.

Yes, I'd actually like to move out of my country (US). I don't like that I want to, but I'm pretty much convinced that everything is going to get worse on the economic front; more specifically, increasing wealth gap, decreasing middle class jobs, in effect, the trend of America being a great place to be rich, an ok place to be part of the shrinking middle class, and a crap place to be poor is just going to keep getting more exaggerated.

Of course, I won't; I'm broke, I've got no useful talents or skills to offer any other country to let me in, I really have no chance of affording a college degree, I have no talents to refine into a degree to make the cost pay off, and to top it all off, I am terrible at learning new languages.

[small]buys ticket to Australia[/small]

On a serious note though, Australia does sound quite nice, and for other countries (not counting the US because it's more regional differences then national ones between where I live in Canada and where I would move) it's probably safe at the top of my list. For some reason in my family we all seem to want to move/visit Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Taiwan. What is it with my family and wanting to go to West Pacific island nations? I would say it's a coincidence, but even my grandparents had an admiration for Australia and Japan, and both did so before the more overtly racist sentiments started to decline and they where so French Canadian that they didn't learn functional English until after high school.

Now that I think about it, maybe wanting to move to Australia is hardcoded into my family's DNA. Would make sense, we came to New France in 1608 to escape the law, and you know what they say about being sent to Australia.

I already live were I want to. Rural Kansas. Although anywhere rural in the Lower Midwest (South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas) and the South (Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, North/South Carolina). The only one out is Missouri, because my Girlfriend doesnt like them because she still holds them to "Bleeding Kansas", which is still a pretty bitter mark on our two states. I would be ok with living in rural Missouri, but I am ok with just seeing it as a tourist.

I'd definitely move to Japan. I just love the culture, and besides which, Australia's going through a particularly shitty time at the moment thanks to our Prime Minister cracking down on students, pensioners and generally middle class people while giving a free pass to the resource industry.

I'd move to Germany, Britain, or Canada....but I couldn't do it without the woman I love.

No matter where I go, I'd have to live in or near a fairly large city.
Houston is the 4th largest city in the USA, and it has almost always been my home.
I can't really imagine living somewhere without the ultimate arsenal of Houston's locations.

Sure. I'm planning on going to Canada for university.

Where I would settle after that is a bit more difficult to guess, I suppose. I do quite like Vermont, it's rather picturesque as far as scenery goes. Did you know we're one of the only continental states to not have billboards?

I want to visit a lot of places... first and foremost Venice, I'd also like to see New York City, London, various parts of Japan, Hong Kong, but as far as living in any of them? I'm not entirely sure.

If it weren't for my friends, family and girlfriend tying me to England, I'd have moved already. The weather here is just awful, it's colder than I can stand half the year, and lukewarm the rest of it (although I still get eaten by mosquitoes in the "warm" months, which seems unfair to me).

On top of that, over the last few years the UKIP party has been gaining strength in my area. People I've known for years are now being persuaded that yes, maybe the Muslims are Islamifying our beautiful pure country, and there are too many Europeans taking all the jobs, and who needs to be part of the EU...these people were sensible when I met them, they may have been closet racists but it was never an issue because I didn't see it!

On top of that on top of that, reality TV. Too much of it. Gonna go live in a rainforest so I won't be exposed.

I'm considering moving to New Zealand or Australia for good, I am not happy about the way things are changing in my country. I am beyond angry at the taxes the government is charging us (not angry at paying them, but mostly how they are being used... free football for everyone, really??!!!). I have been to Sydney and loved it.

As an alternative I am also considering Uruguay (which is way closer), I really want to get as far away as I can from the Argentinian government and its propaganda machine.
