Depends on the war.

Vietnam was a whole new level of pointlessness when it comes to war. I'd try and get out of that.
Honestly, fight the commies because they're commies? Yup, that's some American home-brewed "liberty" for you right there.

WWII on the other hand, I'd sign up.

If it was WW2, I would fight, not very well mind you, but I would try my hardest.

Canada, since. I already live there and all it wouldn't even be a hard move. But honestly in a real war situation where Canada was conscripting (say WWII) and I was selected, I would likely serve. Assuming my health issues don't get in the way I'd join the fight and probably die there.

Really depends if I support the cause or not.

It would depend on the war. Vietnam was a disaster that the French got America into. I would want very little to do with that--since it turned into such a mess.


WWI/WWII though, I would do that.

Enlist, whether you like it or not it is your obligation as a citizen. If you don't like it too damn bad, you can't have all the good without accepting the bad. It is a free country sure, but there is no such thing as a free lunch. At least they don't make you serve in the military period.
