I'd think, "Not my business.", and go right back to sleep, or something. Just ignore it. It doesn't affect me in the slightest.

It depends. In the average Swedish prison and if the escapee is a dangerous prisoner? Sure, I'd drop a small hint, I doubt I'd be shanked for it.

Is it the future and I'm in some sort of political detainment camp (Property of WorldCorp, all hail the jobcreators cyberpunk cyberpunk) and the escapees aren't real criminals? No, and if possible, I'd ask if I can tag along.

Well thank the infinite cosmos for Swedish prisons. I could tell the cops and be sure that I wouldn't be killed. Any prison where you are in physical danger is a fail.

Well looking at my own track record IF I were to go to jail I'd most likely end up in the "good" section filled with small time tax frauds and such so I don't think I'd risk anything from a wood by murderer/insane crack-addict. Although I doubt there'd be anyone desperate enough in that wing to try and mount an escape attempt.

And the off-chance that my roomie is a murderous fuckhead with brass-knuckles permanently stuck to his hands I'd probably keep quiet (or make damned sure that whatever I say can't be traced back to me).

Yeah yeah honor and all that but I'm sorry. Most inmates who think of escaping usually would have done something so bad that I'd doubt that they deserve any respect at all.

Other.

Lot's of factors go into such a thing you know.

I would inquire as to whether his crime was something harmless like smoking a blunt or something on the far end of the opposite spectrum, Like a murderer. The prior I don't think should be in jail in the first place and I'd let him go about his business. The latter I would report because there is a very good reason for him being in a jail. He is a threat to society.

I would also have to take into account whether my life would be in danger for doing so. So I would sooner seek protection from repercussions before I did such a thing in the first place.

We would have all broken out before the inmate, after all we are, THE ESCAPIST!

Depends upon how likely it is that my fellow inmates learn about me "snitching"

If the chance of retribution is slim, I'd inform the guard even if the other inmate is offering to take me. I respect society and order too much to allow a criminal to run loose.

Live and let live, unless I hold a particular grudge against them. I'll find my own way out in time.

I wouldn't. Their business is their business. Being a prison snitch will only get you dead, or worse, someone's shiv dummy or a** *****.

Morally I should. It is my civic duty to ensure that the rules are being followed.

Pragmatically however, it depends on the risk of being found out and beaten up.

I do also have a rudimentary sense of honor and it does seem very unbecoming to betray the confidence of someone I trust or even someone of the same social group as myself, especially for material advantage.

So I don't know.
