It depends on who does the invading. There are many things I am extremely unhappy about with my country's existing government, so unless the invaders are worse I won't care. They could be much better (in essence liberating my country).
As long as they leave me and mine alone as much as possible I don't care who ultimately is in charge.
And even if they're worse, if the enemy is significantly stronger, I won't throw my life away by joining a doomed resistance movement. I'd sooner look into emigrating (or escaping).

Probably not. I'm living here for the time being, but I'm already looking at my options in other countries post-graduation. So I would probably just leave. Also, I have neither the physical fitness nor the desire to join an army of any kind. Pacifist bordering on total hippy, you see.
I don't think "Just Leaving" is an option when you get invaded. I think the assumption is you get one of 3 choices

1: Cooperation
2: Subjugation
3: Reistance
It will more like this tyrant invade another country:
1. Slave
2. Genocide

Gosh, I find it interesting how many people wouldn't defend their country because of personal issues with the government. I just don't think anyone who would invade a country (most likely by force) would be better than whatever government the country previously had.

Usually, I think, because invaders never really care nearly as much about the countries they conquered as they do about their own. It's usually all about the resources.

But, on point.
I'm fairly athletic but wouldn't make a good soldier. Poor eyesight makes me a poor shot. But I would happily be a courier, a tunneler of goods, and maybe even let my house be a safe haven for other resistant members.
There would be risks involved but risks I would, hopefully!, be brave enough to take.

If you live in a democratic country you have the right to remove your government peacefully by voting on election day. As a rule of thumb democratic countries don't invade democratic countries. It is rare but it does happen from time to time tho.

What mostly happen is a dictatorship country invading a democratic country or a democratic country invading a dictatorship government.

With the exception of the USA, even democratic country can be brutal to the country that conquered.

It depends on who is the invader. If the USA invade a country that is ruled by a tyrant than the majority of the population including their military won't put up much of a fight. That because they know
1. The new government that will be form will be democratic.
2. Those that got brutalized by the tyrant will be in power.
3. No need to die for the tyrant
4. Fast food, Wal-Mart, Disney, etc will be imported to their country.
5. Their culture will not change.

However if a tyrant invading another country this will mostly happen.
1. Slave
2. Genocide

Unless you're blind you do not need perfect vision to be a good shooter. It help but not necessary because most engagement will be 100 yards or less.

Depends, on the one hand, I am a patriotic person who would love to defend my country and fight invasion.

On the other hand, my country is full of overpaid pillocks that badly deserve to have an invading foot up there arse!

I wonder how many Americans realize the irony that they are putting themselves into the shoes of an Afghan or Iraqi

I wouldn't be much of a solider, but I could probably find other ways to help out. Propaganda pamphlets, anyone?

Depends on if the invaders would actually make it WORSE or not. From my point of view that is. But yea, if they did I would fight back with all I got (not that much, could easily be made more) until they're gone or I'm dead. ^^

If it was a theocratic or communist/fascist army, probably. Anything else and I wouldn't really care.

Mm, well, I'm about to tread into territory I don't know many facts on and I may very well be wrong but...

isn't that what America did with Iraq? But the people are resisting. There are a lot of insurgents and the people there aren't being particularly helpful, I've heard, and in fact seem to really want us gone. There was a study that showed that over half the population looked favorably on Americas military actually being attacked.

I do agree that, eventually, globalization will lead to 'McDonald Democracy' all around. But if they were invaded their country (and this can be any country America would invade) would change. It'd be impossible not to. America would try to westernize them. Maybe not intentionally, but you can't bring in big businesses without killing the smaller ones that were a huge part of the culture. And maybe if that tyrant fell out of power, maybe that just means other corrupt groups would try to fill in that spot? I think that's what the insurgents are trying to do.

Feel free to correct me if I am painfully off target!

Hell yes!

Although I would refuse all suicide missions. I don't believe in throwing my life away for the greater good, as I am the most important thing to myself.

During WWII the majority of Resistance groups that existed were corrupt, out for themselves, and were home-grown terrorists that tortured, murdered and raped those of their own people who were who just accepted the occupation and tried making a life for themselves.
Those of you who are quoting Iraq what I have said is still true. Afganistan is differant nearly all the Taliban and Al-qaeda insurgents are foreigners trying to put a Arabic culture into a Persian/Pushtu land. Before the taliban Afganistan was a wonderfully Multi-cultural country, it was the taliban who demolished the statues of the buddhas of bamiyan and destroyed a lot of Greco-bactrian ruins as well.

If the UK was invaded I would seek to join either the Canadian, Australian or New Zealand Armed forces in case the commenwealth moves to free Britain (or just to earn a wage ^.^)

Strange how there are only two options:
Fight for one side no matter what the enemy is.
Don't fight.

Nationalism is stupid.
