Considering opinion is based different by everyone (i for example dont like halo and never saw the importance of Starcraft, but then again, I dont like RTS's), its really dumb to just go into a rage over this because you think differently.

That being said, its Pac Man. PAC MAN!!!! I'm not saying every game he is in has to be a 10, but the basic formula is a good game and guilty pleasure, so any game that replicates and enhances it is worth a 10.

It's funny that Yahtzee says that marks out of ten are stupid and we all nod sagely...then a few weeks later you see a ten and shit a church.

Read the review and see what they really thought, a number means nothing.
I hate when when people refer to Yahtzee as law. Just because it came out of his mouth, it does not mean that it's correct or not open to disagreement. Maybe while people were aping sheep, OP was busy forming his own opinions.
I don't care who said it (and for the record Yahtzee is not my choice of critic, I tend to prefer user reviews) but the idea of not using a number is valid. It just amuses me that as a community we'll tend to say one thing and do another. And the OP has clearly listed the sites where he looks for reviews.

Frankly I treat Yahtzee the same way I treat Moviebob's other show. Because they're known for being opinionated they get to say things bluntly that they feel strongly about. Doesn't always mean it's true but they get to straight up say it and it's always worth considering their opinions.
In an odd turn of events, I think we have come to an agreement that people (a vast majority being here) need to stop putting their faith in one source and formulate their own opinions whether it be from first hand experience or accumulation of several different sources.

Most mainstream sites will often give perfect scores to the biggest games with a lot of hype, IGN is no exception

I'm pretty sure they gave Reach a perfect 10 then complained that the story wasn't great and it had FPS issues...DOH

I don't remember what website it was but I once saw a review give a game a perfect 10 overall then in the break down of the score it scored at 2/10 for storyline and 4/10 for something else.

Maybe im just wierd but if the overall score is 10 then surely the rest of the numbers should also be 10.

Well, what he's saying is that he's surprised that huge, multimillion-dollar epics got a lower score than a game about a yellow dot eating white dots in a maze.

its been a long time since ive seen a game review that made sense from either IGN or gamespot. id wager the very reason most of us are here is that yahtzee is about the only critical reviewer left; all those reveiws should be dead to you.

I don't care about what IGN does - I don't give a fuck about game reviews in general.
Getting angry at journalism based around fictional time wasters is in itself a new low.

If i need a review i consult friends or just read some forum posts.
Sites like IGN is therefore completely blocked from existence in my life.

No need wasting precious brain cells on it :)

cant spell ignorance without IGN.

but seriously, theyre horrible at reviewing games.

for example, they gave CoD: WaW a 9.2 but gave Black Ops an 8.5 even though it is VASTLY superior to WaW. they mentioned Modern Warfare 2 throughout the review of BF: Bad Company 2 and the reviewer made every positive thing sound negative so he could give it a bullcrap score. they gave Hydro Thunder Hurricane the second lowest score out of all reviewers on metacritic or gamerankings simply because the reviewer didnt know how to play it and thought it felt TOO classic

they suck

I do believe we have, time for tea I think!

My favourite game purchase method is actually every so often to just buy a random game and fuck reading reviews. Buy something you've never heard of and play it over a weekend.
When I had a lot of cash flowing in, I would try to buy three random games a month. Unfortunately, I've been broke for quite sometime now and rely on reviews or word of mouth. I miss the days of unprovoked purchases because there are so many hidden gems I would have never given a chance.

yes, ign has been known to have some very very crappy reviews.

they give bad reviews to good games, and good reviews to bad games. and sometimes, they give good reviews to games just because they believe the hype.

The gave Mass Effect 2 a lower score than what it deserves. ((joke, it has a good score.))
The gave Battlefield: Bad Company 2 a lower score than what it deserves.
They gave Modern Warfare 2 a higher score than what it deserves.
They have done similar things to many other games. You can tell when they're biased to a game when the mark the game down a point for something stupid. They're not too reliable; I'd suggest no longer visiting them.

Damnit, I was going to say that XD

I haven't played the game, so I can't say what I think it deserves, but you got to take into account it's cost and maybe the amount of content it has. It could have 40 game modes, multiplayer, leader boards, who knows. Maybe other sites didn't appreciate that but maybe IGN saw that it has the best value. DLC games are all about value, IMO.

That being said, IGN does make a lot of stupid scores. Some people may agree with them. If you don't, then don't read their reviews. I usually don't, so I just refer to other reviewers.

I feel like there're worse things to get angry at IGN for, than giving Pac Man a 10. What would you want them give it, like... a 6? Because it doesn't meet modern standards? Nah. I'd find some other reason to be pissed off. I'm sure there are plenty.

So much win... Made me lol.

Ign is so sad now. I really don't want to find the article again, but they did a preview on Dragon age 2 and they spent the entire article talking about nothing.

Their reviews are generally poorly done, and they all around just annoy me.

The only reason I put "indifferent" in the poll option is because there's nothing to forgive IGN about. The person who reviewed the game apparently really liked the game, and scored it as such. Also, have you played it?

What would your first reaction be if I threw onto that list, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX
According to IGN, I would be applauded.
Also, have you bought the game? Or played it at all? It might be the greatest thing since games were invented for all any of us know.
