IGN gave Donkey Kong Returns a 9, so what?, the world's not gonna end if Pac-Man recieves a 10 out of a XBLA title, also I stopped trusting IGN's reviews a long time ago.

I know this has already been said before, but if all you care about is numbers then go be an accountant. I'm sure if you read teh full review they will explain why they felt it appropriate to give such a high score.

Also, before ranting about an undeserved score, maybe you should try, I dunno... PLAYING THE GAME?

Just a thought...

IGN is an awful site that gets paid to review games that can't really be meaningfully compared based predominantly on hype and pedigree instead of quality. Really, the only reason to visit that site is for their journalism, not their criticism, and even that is merely passable.

That is sort of odd. Also, is any game really worth a 10? I mean in a philosophical sense all games strive to be perfect but do any really reach that coveted position? :p

Fallout 3 is ok..but the rest are god awful. And did you play Pac-Man C.E DX? That game is awesome.
Wow..really? I'm trying to decide whether you're trolling or not, please for the love of god say I missed the sarcasm ><
There are people who think they are terrible, really, but who cares because none of our opinions matter anyway.

On topic: I never pay too much attention to anyone's reviews on games, usually I just see what other people think then try it myself even if they don't like it. nothing to get worked up about. Also I hate how much their site makes my web browser lag!

When you're judging a game review based on an arbitrary number alone... you need help.

The number provides a general, at-a-glance impression of the quality of a game. If the number's higher than 8.5, think "it's probably good." If the number's lower than 7 on IGN think, "maybe try a demo or something." If it's lower than 4, run. Otherwise it doesn't tell you anything.

If two reviewers give two entirely different games, from entirely different genres, an 8.4 and an 8.6 -- I'm not even sure what to say here. The comparison isn't fair to begin with, and I can't think of a point system that would scale fairly for an amusing arcade game and a non-linear, storytelling, action-RPG extravaganza, never mind one that would account for a 0.2 point difference.

The numbers are guidelines and largely nonsense. If you want a review, actually try reading the review.

A perfect 10

When I see a 10, I jump to metacritic and if that number isn't above 97, the giver of the 10 is in serious trouble. 10s are reserved for the best of the best, on the singular page of the history books in a hundred years that mentions video games as a sector of pop culture, these are the games whose pictures will be there.
I have lost respect for Ign but I forgive them because I, as you check the escapist, kotaku, gamespot and IGN but Ign I just check because it keeps you up to date with the videogame world, but reviews, well u can't spell ignorance without IGN.
Also I don't trust 10s cause no game is perfect, for reviews I recommend game trailers, the escapist, or gamespot.

maybe if i grew up with pac man and it was the only game available to me, it would be pretty awesome. But we live in a world full of choices so why would i play pac man when i could be fighting off a zombie horde or killing andrew ryan?I'm not saying pac man is a bad game, I'm just saying there are much better ones.

I was pretty sure IGN wasn't a real site.../sarcasm
Anyways, the only reason you should ever even think of those three letters is if you're thinking of chobot...when she was younger...

And-It's pacman. It's not hard to make it awesome. Make it HD and add more levels and some other stuff that won't break the game but still be able to play the original. I'd give it a 10...or a ACTUALLY GOOD frogger remake, or space inavaders...

I am curious as to why you disliked Mass Effect 2. I believe that you did dislike it and I am curious as to why you disliked it.

On Topic: I would not give up on a site because of one review I disagreed with. I suppose that is because I don't really listen to reviews all that much. The only review I really trust is my own.

Good writing was it's nice feature. I'll give it that. But the voice acting could have been better. As in with more emotion. Plus..it was very boring. Jade Empire is one of their RPGS. So underrated. But I'm not fond of Bioware games.

You're going to tell me you posted that first comment without expecting your inbox to be filled with quotes? If so, that's very oblivious of you.

If not, why are you complaining? You dissed four games with gigantic fanbases, stating that they are "god-awful" no less.

What kind of a response did you expect?

I'm assuming that you posted that only to then be able to say that opinions don't matter on this site. Which is pretty pointless since you got only one really negative response.

OT: It's Pac-Man. What would you rate Pac-Man?

There are far bigger problems with IGN.

Who takes IGN seriously? I don't think that the scores are really comparable that way it's more about ...the quality of the title or ..something I can't explain it I'm tired.

I can see why Pac-Man has a 10/10 rating

It was one of the few games that kicked off gaming. A game that got people into gaming. Nostalgic Boosts the rating to 10/10.

Not when you dont back it up, just because it's an opinion doesnt make it immune to scrutiny.

You did say 4 games which at least 2 are held as pinnicles of the gaming world were god awful, people are going to call you out on it, I could accept you saying that you didnt enjoy it, which is fair enough, might not be your thing but to say those five games are terrible is akin to flame bating, as they are all loved by the gaming community, and viewed objectively are fantastic games. It'd be like saying movies such as Citizen Kane or Fight Club crap, sure it'd be an opinion but it would be misjudged, and there would be little you could do to defend that opinion. Out of curiosty, what would you rank as your top five games?
