So there are some new TV ads on film piracy and i realised when people talk about this they always seem to bring up video game piracy what are your opinions in pirated films. I personally am undecided on this matter, but i have done it in the past and felt no guilt over it.

I hate that advert. If we all shunned people who make or buy piracy products then nobody would talk to anyone.

What, pray-tell, is a Knock-Off Nigel?
Someone who gets pirated things. It's a British advert.
And no. It's bad.

Those adverts really ARE brilliant. And catchy. Not sure if they have the impact that any anti-pirate hopes for, though.

Morally, I don't think most people who pirate films care as its unlikely they'll get caught, I prefer to buy DVD's anyway.
Adverts are awesome though.

Sigh, piracy......again? Fine.

Such a retarded attempt at fighting piracy - name calling.

Can you really see either of these in the future:

A: People not reporting crimes anymore, instead they publicly sing government written songs to you, calling you names and telling you where you've gone wrong in the hopes that humiliation will cause you to change your ways.

AND\OR

B: Pirates being upset, giving a tiny rat's ass because some moron has heard a gov. funded jingle on the tv\radio, called the pirate silly names and is now eating his own arm because he called someone a 'knock-off nigel' in a pub full of the working class.

They're just being dickheads as usual. They should be trying to fight the pikey's that take hundreds of copies of DVDs to car boot sales several times a week making THOUSANDS. Not spending THAT much money trying to catch every last home downloader.

Saying that though, I buy quite a lot of stuff and nothing fucks me off more than when you actually BUY a dvd and 20th century fox still put that stupid anti-piracy, anti-car-stealing advert at the start. It'd be like buying a car then a cop pulling you over to lecture you about car jacking, right outside the show room.

Sorry to say it but what a set of cunts. And they wonder why people pirate as much as they do.

I know... if i've got the DVD surely i fucking well bought it, why the hell do we have to sit through that unskipable bullshit of terrible acting, filming and patronising dialogue.

I don't pirate stuff, however those adverts make me feel like I should as a matter of principle.

^^ Don't blame the consumers (legit or not), blame the people who flood the market, aggressively advertise their bi-weekly releases, make you pay through the nose for privilege of owning one of their games and then finally, lecturing you about piracy.

I pirate movies and such out of spite for the industry and government, specifically so I don't have to sit through those ridiculously annoying un-skippable piracy ads at the start of every God damn film I buy. Stealing a movie isn't even really comparable to stealing a car! You can go to prison for stealing a car, you get a slap on the wrists and maybe a fine for nicking a DVD.

Just to illustrate a point.

Piracy is practically stealing; you end up with the product but don't spend a penny.
It's the same in principle as going to your local DVD/game/music shop and taking what ever you want without going to the cash register.
It's the 'Knock-Off Nigel's that have cost the entertainment industries so much money. Would you like to work without getting paid? Because that is what, in effect, Knock-Off Nigel's are asking these people to do...

I'm none too happy about the "don't steal this please" ads we get in movies and on DVDs these days, but I don't blame the theatres and studios for that; if we didn't have wankers trying for free thrills, we wouldn't have those anyway. And then the cheap bastards have the cheek to say they're sticking up for the little guys... I wonder how many of these "Nigels" have actually written or filmed anything worth putting on someone else's screen?

I have written for pay, and let me tell you, piracy hurts the little guys who work on these things. No money to the studios means no money to the artists, which means artists (like me) find other ways to get groceries.

So screw yourselves, ya cheap bastards, and I hope the next guy to see your warez is your proctologist.
