Question about the debt?

If I get hit by a car will it pass to my loved ones, or is there an accidental death clause?
If it doesn't pass to my loves ones, I'll take it. Even if it takes me 300 years to pay it off, that's simply a long investment.

This.

I don't wanna live forever. I would enjoy an extension, especially in my few remaining under 30 years (dear GOD typing that makes me feel old), but I wouldn't want to go on forever. There's waaay too many downsides to immortality.

If anything, I'd just want my age to cap out at around 40 until I die. Growing super old and senile and unable to move like my great aunt just sounds horrifying. ;_;

As long as it just stops me from aging, I'll take that deal. Outliving all of my family and friends would be difficult, but I want to experience the future.

If the immortality were permanent, then no. I'm just imagining Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who, being buried alive for 2000 years. I would also be concerned about outliving the universe, and having to endure forever afterward.

But that's exactly what OP is proposing. You'd be locked into your youth and you'd live so long as no external factors (cars, guns, runaway shopping carts) kill you.

If you really want to die, there'd be ways to accomplish that.

I imagine in order to be profitable, they would make your family inherit a percentage of your debt if you bit it before you paid your full debt to the company. So if you end your life on your own terms or you die of malaria; they still get a large sum payment from someone.

Speaking as someone who is 36, I must say I'm sickened by your blatant pro-youth agenda. :)

Can I kill myself should I become bored?

Because if not, hell no, I'm not dealing with an eternity of depression and ennui.

Given the very generous restrictions on the immortality, sure why not? I mean, basically all you are eliminating is death by old age, and at least from your description, death by illness/disease. So really, for most purposes, that is functional immortality, with the option for death by other methods if I get tired of life.

And yeah, why wouldn't I? So I owe a huge debt, so what? There's this lovely thing called compound interest, and now that my lifespan is much larger, it would be a relatively simple thing to squirrel away a nice amount of money without much effort. Live off that, and let the rest of my money go to the debt, seems fine to me.

And if I ever get tired of life, after centuries of living, I can always eat a bullet, or jump off a building, or any number of other things.

So yeah, hook me the fuck up.

This is effectively 'Would you like to stop aging'. I see utterly no benefit to aging further so duh I'd like to stop aging. It's really a question of if you can stand the debt. Seems reasonable enough for the amount of extra time I get in return.

Yes!

What? I'm going to be 30 in April and I HATE birthday now!

It isn't cos of the usual boring ass birthday, I just hate my cells/ health is on the decline now. Bruises are black instead of brown and are far slower to heal up now especially the scars stay there longer now too!

I guess I am now facing my mortality (I hate I don't heal fast anymore), I still got a youthful looking face but deep now I'm know I am not young any more.

As for the cons, friends are overrated unless I met some really GOOD friends and sure I would be in debt but the immoratality would be in my favour. Why hire a new inexperience kid when you can hire a guy with 100+ experiences?!

I'm 25 now. I'll be 25 forever and I can choose when to die barring fatal situations. Sounds like a fair deal to me.

I'm an observer by nature, if you give me the opportunity to be able to witness humanity's history until it ends I'll take it, I would even accept becoming a brain in a jar connected to a computer, but sure, sign me up, for an immortal being the flow of time shall become meaningless eventually.

Same, although I think I'd rather go gene therapy than machinery if possible.

I think what's honestly most silly is that there are people who don't want to be immortal. Which is fine if it's their choice, but they also don't want it to be allowed for other people to have that opportunity. I guess death is just so great and wonderful, although I find that these people still look both ways before they cross the street.

Whatever, we'll outlive those people.

Well, if we are still killable, I can understand the fear of the actual act of becoming dead. I know Id probably be somewhat paranoid. I know Id still be afraid to fly. But the ability to take my time yet do all the things I want to do, and see the future forever, that is just too worth it.

Though I'd prefer true immortality myself. Then...maybe Id fly more. Maybe.

As much as I like living, and as much as I would love to see what the future has in store for us; I'd have to pass. If you're immortal, you'd have to sit through so much death. Your loved ones would die, until you have no more. Wives, and children, coming and going, until you just get tired of trying. And when the sun supposedly destroys everything in a billion years or so, there you'll be, drifting through space, alone forever.
