But that's exactly what OP is proposing. You'd be locked into your youth and you'd live so long as no external factors (cars, guns, runaway shopping carts) kill you.aegix drakan said:This.American Tanker said:Too many strings attached. I'll pass.
I don't wanna live forever. I would enjoy an extension, especially in my few remaining under 30 years (dear GOD typing that makes me feel old), but I wouldn't want to go on forever. There's waaay too many downsides to immortality.
If anything, I'd just want my age to cap out at around 40 until I die. Growing super old and senile and unable to move like my great aunt just sounds horrifying. ;_;
I imagine in order to be profitable, they would make your family inherit a percentage of your debt if you bit it before you paid your full debt to the company. So if you end your life on your own terms or you die of malaria; they still get a large sum payment from someone.Eclipse Dragon said:Question about the debt?
If I get hit by a car will it pass to my loved ones, or is there an accidental death clause?

Well, if we are still killable, I can understand the fear of the actual act of becoming dead. I know Id probably be somewhat paranoid. I know Id still be afraid to fly. But the ability to take my time yet do all the things I want to do, and see the future forever, that is just too worth it.renegade7 said:Same, although I think I'd rather go gene therapy than machinery if possible.Saelune said:I aspire to become an immortal cyborg so...
I think what's honestly most silly is that there are people who don't want to be immortal. Which is fine if it's their choice, but they also don't want it to be allowed for other people to have that opportunity. I guess death is just so great and wonderful, although I find that these people still look both ways before they cross the street.
Whatever, we'll outlive those people.
