We keep getting bits of the future with Desmond, but I don't want the bulk of the game to be people running around with lazer guns
It isn't really the future though. How different is 2012 going to be from 2011(now).....or 2012 when the actual game is scheduled? There probably won't be any lazer guns, sorry............Jetpacks maybe? We could have IRL Jetpacks by late 2012...(fingers crossed)

OT: I'm torn between Baroque and Dark Ages. I agree with the majority consensus in that Victorian/Industrial Britain would be awesome-sauce though.

I think the Dark Ages would be better suited to a TEMPLAR-sided Game instead of AC3 since, in that age, the Church was quite literally the last bastion of hope for Europe instead of being evil hypocrites like every other time.......

N.B. This comment was made by a multicultural team of people of various Faiths and Beliefs. :3

I want the game to take place present day. You are Desmond running around present day cities. Retractable mask, some mini gliders, and maybe mini jet boots to help you get around.

I say Baroque period it's the only logical next step. You can see as the weapons change slowly through time. You know adding some more guns, but still have some swords and knives that you can use.

I want to see the French Revolution. That would be cool.
Holy shit... good point, but not enough viable assassination targets, I don't think.
I don't know... I'd say that a period of political upheaval like that is going to call for a few well placed stabs. That's where I'd like to see an Assassin's game set. Well, either there or feudal Japan.

Victorian England, with the prime antagonist being Queen Victoria. Tell me it wouldn't be awesome to assassinate the fat *****.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Elizabethan Era England and Dutch Revolt Netherlands have awesome Assassin's Creed story potential.

The Dutch Revolution was nothing more than a few nobles and their mercenaries getting all pissy about the Spanjards owning them, though. Sure, there were a few critical points, but they were mostly political rather than militaric. Nothing as far reaching as the crusades in the Holy Land, or the entire liberation of Rome/several Italic cities.

Soviet Era, Russian Assassin in America, maybe a bit of Kennedy killing
Whoa, now. Kennedy killing? That sounds like Templar talk to me, friendo...

Anyway. It's super unoriginal for a videogame setting, but the architecture of imperial China and/or feudal Japan was just made for the pitter-patter of stealthy assassin feet.

Id personally prefer if Desmond split between looking for "Temples" and going into the animus/using the new ability from Assassin's Creed: Revelations (Awaken the 6th?) to find the "temples". The desmond sections would be set in 2012 and would use modern tech. Since the Assassins are not rich, they may not have access to guns so that might solve that problem. During the past sections, Desmond goes into varius different ancestors set in ancient/classical areas such as:
Athens, Greece (431-304 BCE)
Rome, Rome (37-41 AD)
Thebes, Valley of the Kings, Alexandria; Egypt
Mohenjo-Daro, Indus Valley(1890-1900 BCE)
Ur, Sumer [Mesopotamia(present-day Iraq)] (2030-1980 BCE)

I think it should be in the future... IN SPACE. Maybe like a star wars theme. Yeah, that would be awesome. Assassins Creed: Stalker of the Stars. Well the name needs a bit of work...

I swear, people who voted Classics just want some upskirts. I assume hiding your testicles was never a small feat in those Greek miniskirts.

We need to move forward in AC. >_< I voted for the future.

I'd love to see Desmond using all of his skills and navigating modern buildings. I just have this feeling the series is going to stagnate and run out of steam if it keeps lurching along with the history thing. It needs to get going and wraps some of this up.

Any time period that means they can retcon the pistol and possibly the crossbow outta the game because they took so much of the 'challenge' (yes I know it's AC) outta a lot of the game.

I'd be fine with a more archaic crossbow/shortbow that had about half the firing rate, or maybe to just revamp the aiming mechanic in general.

blow darts/throwing knives are so much more assassiny :D

On the subject of skirts, I'm changin' my vote to the Georgian era. Women wearing absolutely massive skirts and petticoats? Mobile hiding places, anyone?

God, please not Columbus era or the American Civil War. So, so boring.

I'd go with Feudal Japan, Imperial China or Victorian/Edwardian era England.

Victorian England, for sure.

Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad
Ezio Auditore da Firenze
and introducing
Lord Chester Chadwick Porpington, Earl of Kensington and purveyor of fine scones and crumpets. His top hat would go over his assassins cowl and he would challenge Templars to British bulldogs.

Cold war era.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the series will end with the revelation that you are viewing Desmond's memories from the future? Just a thought.
