Consoles I own full stop. O. Zero. Nada. MY dad bout a family PS3 a while back, bought 2 games, finished them, then he refused to buy more games since they were so expensive here. I had my own PC and Steam, PS3 never got used again.

Never.

Well there might be that Gameboy SP i still got, but can't remember if that falls in your criteria.

Anyway, as to why? PC master race baby.
All the joking aside, i've started gaming when i was young on my dad's old PC and gotten so used to the kb/m combo i can't really handle controllers well. And most games i want to play are also available on PC.

None. Parents never saw fit to buy one at launch when I was young, and now that I can buy them myself I'm an exclusively PC gamer so, no consoles get bought at all.

Zero here, unless you count my GBA SP which I got a few weeks after they came out. I don't as it's just a repackaged GBA.

It would be like calling the PS One, or PS3 slim a new console.

I always wait for there to be enough exclusive games out before getting a console, and ideally after at least one price-cut.

Just the one (the Wii). I haven't got any other at launch for various reasons, e.g. I didn't get my PS3 until 2009 as it was actually worth buying by that point.

Does getting a DS Lite on launch day count? I traded in my old DS to buy it but I didn't get that until about seven, eight months after launch.

New poll idea: How many consoles have you owned by the Christmas of its launch?

That would get you a more definitive answer, I think. That's certainly what the console makers hope for.
Well in that case I'd add the Gamecube to that list.

The ferocious gamer hides in the grass, waiting patiently for it's prey to significantly drop it's price. After 1-3 years, the oblivious console drops $200...The gamer pounces.

Zero. I'd rather wait for a price drop and a bit of library to be built up. Personally I don't think very many consoles have been all that interesting at launch. I've only had my PS3 since last year.

I have never bought a console at launch and I very rarely pre-order games. Consoles and games are not worth the money that they are sold for. I consider 25% of launch price on most gaming related things to be full price and will not consider them to have been launched until they reach this pricing level.

Every PS console there is I was either given as a present or bought myself with 1 month of launch. I say 4 'cos out of the £350 (although I might need more) I need, I have £200 and I might have a nice chunk of money coming in soon.

So I could easily have £400 to get the PS4 + games, so I'm counting as I already have it.

I'm not sure but I think I got a DS on launch as well but I'm 50/50 on that one.

As soon as I had my own income, I've been buying all Nintendo stuff at launch. So that at least means the Wii, Wii U, DS, DSi and 3DS... Can't remember how early we had a Gamecube...

I always wait at least two years to judge which console has the most games I'd like to play, so none.
A gigantic backlog on Steam combined with new PC releases is usually all I need anyway.

Midnight launches for:
Dreamcast
Xbox
Xbox360.

I bought a DS on launch, as well as a 3DS on launch. (I still do not own a single 3DS game). Pretty much all my other consoles I bought after release after a price drop or two,

Like, I just don't understand myself.
When it comes to handhelds I am always on the ball with getting them either at launch, or very early after launch.
However with consoles it's like..3-5 years until I get one?
And usually by that time there is already a new console on the horizon.

Bought the CD attachment thingy for mega drive/Genesis and later a Saturn. And that was pretty much it with the consoles for me.

To date, not one. I had a Vita pre-ordered but the size and price of the memory cards changed my mind. There's still a few games I'd like to play on it but I'll wait it out until I want one in conjunction with a PS4 at which point I assume the memory card will be less of a debilitating issue. We'll see.

2. My father bought my brother an SNES for Christmas the year it came out. It was totally his present, but being siblings we ended up sharing it. I only owned one game for it, Street Fighter II, as both of my parents were rather of the opinion that video games weren't for girls. They came around by the end of the life cycle, aided by my brother's waning interest in the thing, and when it launched the N64 was my present. We still shared it, but where previously he got the games and I just played the ones that interested me (or, at least, I could tolerate), the N64 was my system so most of the games were to my taste. The only game he got for the console was Goldeneye, which I never could get into.

Every other console was purchased later in the life cycle. The NES was later because my brother was too young to care about it before 1988. I got my Playstation for Christmas because I really wanted to play Bust-A-Groove. I never managed to get my hand on that game, though. :( My PS2 was purchased as a DVD player that just happened to play games, as I had resisted the switch from VHS to DVD until I recieved my favorite anime as a present, and it was DVD only. All of my handhelds were purchased for Pokemon. I got my first Gameboy when Pokemon Red came out (despite being in 10th grade, it was still awesome). I skipped the Colour, but was drawn back in with the NES-designed GBA, and immediately picked up Pokemon LeafGreen. My DS was purchased for Diamond, with SoulSilver about two months later. And when I finally get a 3DS (hopefully soon), it will be because of X.

Never got it right when it came out, nor did I know anyone who bought them when they came out until I was 18. I honestly thought that it wasn't something people did.

Also, Pc gamer anyways.
