I see a distinct lack of T-virus in your poll.

This displeases me.
Exactly. Where is the T-Virus from Resident Evil? It kills everything and everyone in most depictions for a reason. ;)
Except Wesker. He seems just fine from it for some reason. In fact it seems beneficial for him, he's super-human!
Ahem *puts on fanboy cap*
He took a dose of some sort of bacteria developed by Dr birkin in order to make it so, shortly before allowing the tyrant to kill him. Nonsensical, true, but resident evil never exelled in making sense

Trojan virus

Hmmmmmmmmmm I would say my virus in Pandemic or what ever that online game is. I got every last place. HAHAH!
That game is IMPOSSIBLE!!!
There's no way anybody could've beat it!
Even madagascar? Seriously? They close the borders and start burning all their clothes if someone coughs three countries away!

Silver wolf: Interesting, but don't give valve any ideas about new special infected they can use to justify L4D3.

Hello escapist.

I just findshed replaying PROTOTYPE again when I looked back on the games I've played, movies I've watched, and books I've read that involve some sort of deadly virus. And I thought to myself, "which is worst?" So to the point. What virus or disease from any form of storytelling, be it a game, a book, a movie, a comic strip, a zoetrope, anything, is the worst of the worst?

Personally my vote goes either to the Blacklight Virus varient DX 1118 A.
Engineered to copy the best biological traits from a host, and instill them in the carrier, when introduced into a host has a delayed kill ratio of 99.999%. When no host is avaliable, the disease can manifest itself in an artifical body several times bigger and more powerful than any human.
Human host after 2 weeks of infection

Hunter, the viruses created body (note this is not to scale, a hunter is several feet over an human.)

Or the Forced Eveloution Virus.

Designed by the encalve goverment in the fallout games to create super soilders capable of incredable feats of strenght and endurance, the forced eveloution virus causes increased growth in both muscle mass and physical reserves. More often than not, the searing pain involved in the process severs the infecteds grap on their mind causing amnesia of their past life and decrease intelligence. However certain host have managed to retain their minds and their wits. When introduced into human hosts, the outcome is almost always a super mutant.

When introduced into lizards, the result is a deathclaw

So escapist, what disease is the worst of the worst?
haven't you heard of the REAL bacteria that came to Europe and Australia from dirty hospitals from India (i guess in reality it's from the Pharmaceuticals)?

it's called NDM-1 (pretty cool name) and it's super resistent to antibiotics, and it causes very bad infections before killing you.

My vote is for the F.E.V. It is special, because unlike a vampire (kind of bad ass, in some ways), a mindless zombie, or dead, the F.E.V. turns you into a giant, androgynous savage with some remnant of former sapience. I think that of the other options, the F.E.V. would be the most degrading to you and most horrifying to the people who knew you, that is unless you were already a dim-witted savage. In that case it wouldn't be so different.
My money's on FEV as well---that stuff's some seriously nasty juju...and to hear Fawkes tell it, the struggle to maintain sanity as the changes occur is the worst manner of torture upon one's mind.

You've quite a list yet it is lacking. Never played an RE game NOR have you seen any of the movies. I actually congratulate you having ignored all of it.

I'm not dissing op, I'm just saying that you've quite a bit of zombie knowledge as per the poll question. Resident Evil being such a dominant zombie gaming figure for so many years makes it strange to me that it's not known by the poll creator.

I think most of the world would be shit out of luck if the FEV got spread around too much.

Shiva, from Rainbow six. It was designed to wipe out most of humanity, and you feel like you have a hangover when you die from it.

While it's not in any media that I'm aware of, I submit weaponized Spanish Flu. It killed 3% of the worlds population in 1917 and 1918, back when the world's population was only estimated at 1.6 billion.

500 million people were infected worldwide, and between 50-100 million died. Let some genetic engineers get at that and it'll be worse than any virus outbreak anyone could imagine.

Only virii I can think of that'd be as bad or worse would be ebola, which already has a 50-89% mortality rate without genetic boosting.

Nah, we'd just hurry the fuck up with making power armor. Besides, Super Mutants are morons, they go for the biggest thing resembling a weapon they can and don't take cover, while going head on against one plays to it's strengths, outsmarting it by using proper weapons, cover and strategy makes them a piece of cake to kill.

The danger of a virus lies in it's ability to spread. Sure, 28 days later zombies change in 10 seconds, but it's easy to keep contained. L4D Zombies appear to be the most deadly, or any airborne virus (I am Legend). To keep things fair, I would actually leave out airborne viruses from the competition because they are too powerful. Excluding Airborne, the Prototype virus has the greatest potential because of its high mutation rate, and the possibility of super-super powerful infected (like the protagonist).

I know how to fight them, but I doubt the common person does.

EDIT: antiMALWARE doctor is what im thinking of, also I think viruses and modern fiction have gone too far, time for a good alien invasion i think.
