Which automatic rifle usage seems more awesome to you?

"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Or:

"YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

If I get infinite ammo, I want infinite ammo. Why do I still reload when I can't run out? It's not quite infinite then is it? It's infinite bullets with the constraint of clip size.
That's like the universe; it's infinite but you're constrained to it by the distance you can travel before you die.
It would be like that, provided when you died you came back to life and kept on going.

OT: I prefer unlimited ammo and having to reload.
Just feels better.
Ugh. Yes, of course. I forgot to add that last bit in. Thanks!

Does anybody remember the pistol from Jet Force Gemini? It had decent ammo, which was limited, but if you ran out, the gun could still fire. The unlimited type of ammo was just really weak. Also, though you didn't classically reload the pistol, it could only fire around seven rounds rapidly before you had to let it recover (sort of similar to spurring Epona in LoZ: Ocarina of Time). This game mechanic meant you never would be totally out of ammo but mismanaging the decent pistol ammo could still make things harder for you.

Now that I got that out, I'd say my preference depends on the game mechanics. And, bottomless clip should not be allowed against other human players unless everyone has ridiculous levels of health or the bullets just don't hurt that much.

Black hole generator magazine pouch is better because it keeps the challenge.
I played Killzone 1 with bottomless mags via gameshark and grenade launcher lolz followed. The fire rate was comparable to the bullet firing bit of the gun.

I like having a reload animation because it's a balance of fun and realism. So infinite supply for me.

If you're going to cheat for bullets you might as well cheat for no clip as well.

I don't use this kind of thing very much. I never cheat, and generally stop playing a game after I beat it.

I think I'll let Snake and Sigint explain:

The internal feed mechanism is shaped like an infinity symbol. Makes sense, if you don't think about it.

In honesty, i would love a bottomless mag. Just so i can shout things like RAAAAAMMMMBOOOOO. and GET SUM. while spraying shots all over the place, like a strom trooper.

I absolutely despise unlimited ammo whatever form it takes. Seriously, why even bother playing it?

Infinite clips is how I prefer it. Infinite ammo withour reloading gets me out of the game too much.

Just remembered this:

I think Revolver Ocelot sums up the majority of us quite nicely.
Top Youtube comment I think sums it up best:

"Baker, your moans do not help this situation!"

the amount of ammo that you start with in some games is stupidly tiny, but unless it's a game where you can replenish your ammo by taking it from your fallen rival's gun you're gonna run out really fast cause you have like 90 bullets worth of reserve ammo and you can only replenish by picking up clips from YOUR gun, no-one else's, even if he's got the same type. infinite ammo would be really helpful in multiplayer gaming, and would be somewhat useful in single player, but only for gun-picky (you can only replenish ammo from the exact same gun you're using, attachments and all) games.

Actually, I'm thinking that limited magazines/infinite reloads are actually probably better than an overall ammo limit.

I can't remember the last time when I actually ran out of ammo in a semi-modern shooting game. It's far more likely that you'll run out of ammo in your current clip at an unfortunate moment than it is you run out of ammo at all, so balancing the game around that would be a far better overall design.

If you want to see it in action try out Shadow Complex, where guns do work like that, or Borderlands once you have regenerating ammo, or EDF.

I personally prefer the Unlimited Supply option, although I liked the bottomless mag in Mass Effect, but you couldnt shower your enemies for five minutes because the gun would overheat
