What things do people do online that irritate you (other than asking you what things people do online that irritate you, or using lame self referential humour, or making jokes that become endless recursive loops)?

One of my pet peeves is a post (or worst still a signature) that consists of swamps of emoticons, turning a user's post into a semi-coherent colouring book. Another is the use of animated avatars that flash away at the side of the page whilst I'm trying to read a post, inducing a growing gnawing feeling of rage.

Well I think we can all see I'm a pretty dysfunctional and easily annoyed guy, but what annoys you, internet?

LOLspeak. It really bugs me when people use made up crap like 'l33t' and deliberately misspell 'teh' and 'evar' and all that crap. Partly because I find it annoying as hell but also because (since common usage is a determining factor in language) I can't stand the idea that in five years time some of those phrases could be in the dictionary. I know a lot of people use it ironically, but still.

Yeah that's always really irritating.

It doesn't even have to be trolls, just people who're on my side of the argument and start fucking up my side of the argument by being moronic and making it look like everyone who agrees with my position must be a cretin.

Blatent spelling errors and abbreviations like "u" or missing out capital letters or punctuation... I don't mind the odd mistake but everyone online should be old enough to write a coherent sentence and it isn't that much effort to write in proper grammar.

I agree. Even if one's dyslexic, there are extensions which allow browsers to spell check entered text.

I also dislike it when people litter lol (or worse still, LOL) throughout their posts.

Excessive Effemitive-ness: I can understand if you're a chick and all [http://www.sacrificialbishop.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/tits-or-gtfo.jpg], but to gentlemen and male-ish females; what is the point of it? What do you gain from spamming images of damn ponies or consciously acting offended or motherly? I want discourse, not dribble on feelings or superficial, exaggerated pleasantries.

Eg.: "Oh hey everyone cheer up! Here's a pony macro! ISN'T CHARLIE BIT MY FINGER CUTE!!!?? <3"

Surrealism: Oh ha-ha. You saw Monty Python/The Day Today. You saw something called surrealism. What are you doing with that dead horse? Oh. You're being ironic and edgy are you? Get the fuck out of here, you hipster ****-nose.

Eg.: "So yeah man I saw an elephant fall from the sky and into my lawn. Man isn't it an allegory for how the Republicans oppress us?"

Wapenese/Weeabos: Oh look, your avatar is from some bloody anime no-one bloody cares about. Oh look, you're going to flash images and references in my face constantly, while looking down at me due to the fact I have no interest in this shit? I don't bloody care who Hiyota-San is! I don't give a shit about the theme tune to Elfen Lied! I've never watched bloody Hangura-Death-Note-Tawaka-Pwooto on some vague network owned by MTV!

Alright, video games come from Japan, I get it. But I don't want to have this pointless Japanese crap thrown at me, or be secretly ostracised for not caring. And seeing as the rubbish thrown at me is usually either crappy surrealism or effeminate garbage, it makes me silently rage.

Eg.: Cosmic can't provide an example. He has broke his PC in rage.

Bad grammer always gets me... well not quite annoyed since I have the personality of a rock, but I find it distracting. Like if somebody says the wrong there/their/they're I'll always get confused for a moment before realising what's going on.

I can't understand the people who get genuinly angry at trolls though; they're (not 'there') great fun. They're like the stupid kid at school who you know is going to get detention for putting that smokebomb in the sink, and you get to watch the whole scene unfold in front of you.

That annoys me when that's all they contribute. I don't mind (in fact, I do it myself) if they type 'this' and then go on to contribute.
