Well this is it guys, Next month my internet is going to be Censored, Slowed down %80 and won't stop any sick pedophiles from accessing child porn.
The worst thing I think about it is that Julia Gillard and Conroy reckon that if I don't support the filter, I'm a Pedophile.
What do you think about Internet Censorship?

It only takes 5 minutes to get around. I'm still against it, but there have been numerous announcements on various steam groups I'm a part of detailing programs that are used in fucking China to get around their censorship. So we should be fine here.

Basically this. When the hell did this start up again? Didn't Labor promise fiber optic cable to make internet faster? That was what won them the election goddamn it. Why would they re-introduce censorship and cock the whole thing up?

There is controversy over the National Broadband Network that Labor wants to introduce because no one likes Telstra. It has nothing to do with censorship.

B) There is no way in hell this is going to get through... well ANY House of Parliament. The Liberals, Greens and pretty much all the independents have said they're going to block any plans for a nation-wide filter.

I'll believe it when I see a government announcement.

The problem with Labor is that they fight for the future (while Liberals worry only about the rich people who'll be dead in the next few decades as well as themselves) and so Labor comes up with laws and policies which protect children from certain things and they hope everyone follows their logic and agrees that children are the future. However, people don't care about the future, they want freedom, free health care and tax breaks but fail to see that they can't have everything so when Labor comes up with something useful the Liberals use scaremongering to play on peoples' selfishness. However, occasionally, Labor comes up with something, such as this, which probably won't do much and simply annoys people. Labor has the best intentions but fails to see hell in the distance.

yeah that is a big issue right there. im all for banning child porn sites but i would like to know what else they block.

will they have the ability to block anti liberal or anti labout websites. what about sites about abortions, or stem cells or actual educational sites that just happen to have penis on it somewhere cause its just that sort of educational site.

The list of material to be banned includes much more than child sexual abuse material. The category of material that has been 'refused classification' includes websites about euthanasia, controversial movies such as 'Ken Park' and 'Baise-moi', and many games that are designed for people over 16 years of age.

They're basically trying to make it so the entire internet is appropriate for 5 year olds.
