1. Signed the Kyoto Protocol.
And what plans have they put in place to achieve this?
An ETS which they were forced to backflip on.
2. Apologised to the Stolen generations, something that a certain PM refused to do.
And how much better are the lives of these people now? I'm thinking roughly no better.
No better, but certainly no worse and at least they have a little more dignity back eh?
3. Dismantled Work Choices (thank fucking God)
Work Choices was only bad for workers with no skills, no work ethic who are easily replaceable.
Hi! I'm a CFMEU member and an "Unskilled" Builders labourer, i work 10 hour days, 6 days a week and make a hell of alot of money from overtime. I am also skilling in the use of hand tools, many powertools, workplace OHS on building sites, first aid and basic welding. I work in an inherantly dangerous highrise environment, filled with various dangers, most of which have the potential to kill me instantly, for example, scaffold penetraitions, exposed electrical wiring, gas lines, falling objects and my own personal favorite very deep holes. I currently earn $70,000 a year plus the benefits of working fulltime for a great company, work choices was designed to eliminate the EBA which gives me this wage and the benefits that do with it replacing it with individual contracts. As evidenced above I am highly skilled, have a strong work ethic and my replacement/training complicated. So thankyou for supporting the Liberal party and their attempt to destroy my way of life.
4. Withdrew a great portion of personnel from the (fruitless) Iraq War.
Not a constructive contribution.
Saving millions of dollars in tax payers money is not constructive?
5. Pretty much avoided us from going into recession.
Courtesy of the strong economy handed to them by the previous Howard government.
While the ecconomy was strong under the Howard government i would argue that this had far more to do with the resources sector than any policy factor. Further to which i believe Work Choices would have damaged the livelyhood of myself and millions of other working class Australians had it passed, destroying the current balence between wages and profits in this country and making any absolute gains in ecconomic outcome fall stright into the pockets of big buisness.
Did that actually happen? Or did they just say it was going to happen?
Did the Howard government ever provide more of the public housing they promised repeatedly when in office? No not enough to meet demand... i can play this game all day
Mere words, not at all constructive.
"ich bein in berliner", "We will fight on the beaches, we will fight in the landing grounds...", "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country", "I am not a crook", "Nuts!"
Mere words, not at all constructive.
If I was satisfied, I would've voted Labor.
Sounds to me that there is very little that would have satisfied you.
