Ok, so I'm a black/asian girl (i look more black though), and the first thing id like to point out is that the only guys who think im pretty are black guys. I rarely see any races dating outside of their own race. first of all i think its not fair because i dont think ill find a black/asian guy (and i dont want to), and second of all, why? how many escapists out there like to date men/women from other races?

Well I don't know where your from but here in Toronto Canada there are a huge number of interracial relationships.

I think that unless they're overtly racist, most of the time males have no racial preference.

The logical reason for not wanting to date outside of your own race is the language barriers. Its easy to be physically attracted to someone you see as exotic, but if you struggle to communicate then it makes dating really challenging. An accent can be sexy but lack of understanding can be downright frustrating.

I've never been specifically attracted to blacks. My fiancee changed that quite a bit though. She's Black(African American for those who are racially sensitive or insecure) and Native American. She's by far the most beautiful girl I've ever met, and like BonsaiK said, she's a lot like me. That just adds to my attraction toward her. After dating her I realized I'm not particularly fond of the following:

-Anything remotely close to following the "redneck" or "ghetto" stereotype.
-Anything remotely close to following the "goth" or "emo" stereotype.
-I fucking hate stereotypes and those who follow them.(Realized shortly after the first two)

I don't think you could possibly top William Taft's description of them as his "little brown friends." At least he did seem to practice what he preached, unlike US involvement in the Philippines as a whole at the time, from what I understand.

As for the other...I can imagine. Might not be a coincidence that she was a lapsed Catholic, raised in the US (and Austria, a few years, from what she said), and fairly jaded anyway. And that we were friends a long time before trying dating (and friends afterwards until we kinda dropped contact).

I've got 3 different nationalities in 3 generations. And that's just on mothers side.

Slightly more on topic, most people will go for the same nationality as their own, it's just easier. Less cultural differences, no language barriers. I've seen immigrants (In Aus, the irony there..) who group together so tight that no-one else can get in. You have people threatening others who try to learn the language, customs.

Then you get.. Almost racist. The English fascination with Asian peoples, that's still pretty strong.

So racist or racist or racist is your choice.

Native American? So USA'ian, Canadian or Mexican? Or Mayan... 'Lists all South American peoples here'.

Assuming USA'ian, do you speak.. Whichever language it is of the people you identify with? I like languages, but, as always, language materials are for the most common. So French, Italian, German. All easy to find examples of, Native American languages not so much.

Well, supposedly it's gotten better lately. Less diehard catholicism and more .... well less Catholicism. I'll let you know when I go in June for a working holiday ^_^

I don't really care about skin colour bujt I quite like the Filo skin complexion. I think it's just that I used to have overt Filo exposure as a kid, and all my cousins on my mother's side spoke tagalog when I don't speak a word of it ;.;

So they used to tease me all the time o.o Plus they were older than me <.< I guess my family turned me off Filo girls o.o

I'm Navajo... I don't know much about my heritage... and I grew up speaking English and Spanish, cause that's the kind of neighborhood I lived in... I could speak fluent Spanish up until I was like 8 than I don't know what happened...

My Grandpa on the other hand spoke several different languages including indigenous languages...<.<

For me, interracial dating is not an issue of race but of CULTURE. I don't care what race a girl is as long as she has a similar culture to me and we can get along; for example, I could not date a "ghetto" girl, whether she is black, white, Asian, or Hispanic.

Is this a US thing? I've never heard anyone here make a big deal of the color of skin one chooses when dating. I dunno, just doesn't seem like anything worth making any kind of fuss about. Personally, I couldn't give a toss about it; what a person is like on the inside is what counts.
