Now the prices are similar, exclusives are better (imo) and they have much better reliability I say go for it.

I would rather pay for good online play than have ps3 give me their crappy ass online for free... XD

But a lot of people wouldn't, and ps3 online really isn't that bad.

well... yeah.

The ps3 isn't BAD, but... well... it's not particularly Good either.
I would personally buy a 360 ( the games are cheaper which makes up for paying for LIVE)
plus the newer XBOX's don't ever seem to red ring (mine hasn't).

As a piece of hardware it blows the 360 out of the water. If you look at exclusives it comes down to personal preference. If you can find enough games for it that you really want to play, then go ahead and get it.

Yes. As people have said before lots of great game, more games are coming, lots of great exclusives, and the fact that it is a seriously powerful/stable piece of hardware.

To me, the main appeal of these next gen consoles are online play, and if your friends don't have it, I would just say forget about it, save your money for games for the systems you have. I don't have a PS3, but I wouldn't buy one if I were you.

There's no game on the Xbox that isn't on the PC or PS3 that I want.But more importantly, the PS3 slim 120GB is going to be 280 Euro around in Ireland, does anyone know what the Original one been cut down to?

The same price I'm told.

to be honest i don't like the looks of the ps3 slims (yes i own a ps3) don't looks as stylish as the normal one if i can be fair. buy the normal one, there is like no difference between the normal and slim (apart from memory and size i suppose)

Say I have a kick ass gaming PC, a wii and an xbox 360. I also hate playing FPS games on a console to the point where I don't buy them, and I also hate metal gear as well as the final fantasy series. In this case, is the PS3 still worth getting?

A 300 dollar blu-ray player is pretty good with the release of the slim.

The Last Guardian+Heavy Rain+Katamari HD+Blu-Ray player.

I'd say if you're into 3/4 of those things, you're good to go. Plus, there's a whole bunch of adorable PSN games I'm not mentioning, and they're all completely worth it.

the slim is supposed to be more 'energy efficent' if he's paying his own power bill.

get one espically since they are now as cheap as a 360 pro. Only reason not to get a PS3 is if all your friends have 360's and you don't.

For all the money you pay for a PS3, you get kickass games with top tier hardware and content, Blu-Ray player, free online gaming and 5-20 dollar downloadable classic PS1 games.

considering the failure rate of the 360, i'd have to say that the ps3 is more than worth it and you can update the hard drive with little effort and you don't void your warranty

I agree with this. With the recent price drop, the PS3 is the better purchase.
