This is very true.. Plus I wasn't aware there was a Halo ODST 2.

People who don't think Halo is being milked are either guillable idiots or sheepish fanboys!

Call of Duty is a much better series {By fact, not opinion.} and it hasn't been milked like Halo, there are less Call of Duty games than there are Halo games!
... Are you serious? First off, what you think is the better game is ALWAYS opinion, never fact. Secondly, yes, the CoD-franchise is being milked. Granted, it's Activision that's doing the milking, not IW... I mean, Activision even stated that they don't want games without the potential for a yearly sequel...
He's doing it on purpose to be annoying. Just ignore him.

He'll be back. He's been quite the ban/IP jumper.

OT: With everything they've been marketing with Halo (books, games, anime, maybe a movie), it's almost safe to say that Microsoft (not Bungie) is milking the Halo series. I think Bungie has been trying to branch out, but I think they will forever be known as the "company that made Halo".

Bungie isn't doing anything different than what has been done by other companies before, in some cases far further.

Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, Doom, GTA3, and many others were all reused over and over and they sell quite well, which means there is a market for those games, hence why companines keep making them.

Bungie is trying something a bit different with the Halo Franchise and if it does well and they make a second it's because the people have spoke with their money. There is nothing wrong with that. You may not like it, but if you were making millions of dollars on a product and you knew your fans were wanting another would you flip them off and say no?

I recall after the Sands of Time trilogy was done that the developers said that there wasn't going to be any more Prince of Persia games for quite a while. That lasted what 2, almost 3 years? It's just business. . .

O RLY?! Let's go through the list:

1 Main Series
1.1 Call of Duty
1.1.1 Call of Duty: United Offensive
1.2 Call of Duty 2
1.3 Call of Duty 3
1.4 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
1.5 Call of Duty: World at War
1.6 Modern Warfare 2
1.7 Call of Duty 7 (working title)
2 Related games
2.1 Call of Duty: Finest Hour
2.2 Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
2.3 Call of Duty: Roads to Victory
2.4 Call of Duty: World at War: Final Fronts
2.5 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized

All in the span of six years. Let's count Halo

Halo 1
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Wars
Halo 3: ODST
Halo Reach

All in the span of 8 years. Less Call of Duty games than Halo my ass. Next time you post, please get your facts straight.

EDIT: Oh wait there won't be a next time. You've been permabanned!
^I like this guy :D

If halo was more child orientated i can see a problem with milking it, like the new toy each week all the kids must buy or be uncool. But thats not how it happens, it's yearly, and it evolves and changes. Your not buying the same toy but now red, your buying a new game.

in it's most basic form, if i like the story and the universe etc around a game, book, movie, tv show i wouldn't want it to end after a one outing, that would suck. Firefly.

Why such hatred towards Halo???

I do not particularly like the game series myself, but the animosity towards it on these forums is ridiculous!

Actually, we're quite neutral about Halo. It's just another game to us.

I know some people don't like Halo but it's a matter of opinion. I do like it, I'm glad that other games are coming out because it means I'll get to play new scenarios in a universe that I've come to enjoy getting immersed in. I like the characters (even if I think Sgt Johnson is over rated. Dude always gets captured or fails his mission)

Is Halo being milked? Look at Sonic, Mario, Metroid & Metal Gear Solid. Franchises get milked. If something is succesful why not make more. People wouldn't buy a game if they didn't want it so why complain about other peoples choices?

Edit: sorry you weren't complaining. I take that bit back

Exactly the way I feel, but why do some people have such hatred towards it. I could understand if it was a glitchy game, or had poor gameplay and graphics, but it seems to me from what I have seen of it that it is a standard FPS with a big fanbase.

Maybe that is the problem, when the fanboys and haters get together?!

yes and no

yes halo is being milked for all its worth

but i dont think its bungie i think microsoft are preasuring them into it .... i think microsoft want to keep ther flagship title since sony keep releasing more exclusive titles by the bucketload

really its the gamers fault though continuing to buy sequals even if they make little or no improvements to the previous game

however i would say the main offender of milking a franchise is activision and infintry ward

£55 for a new release WTF!! then they say stuff like:

"we feel like MW2 is the underdog"

WTF infinty ward no you dont ... AHHHHH!!!

i want game devs to go back to the way they were and be more about the fun in creating the game than just about money money money and being right dicks to the competitors etc

Im about to to say something thats hard to believe, you may want to sit down. Both the Halo series and Call of Duty franchise are very good games! Its Hard to fathom, but its true. And to answer the question, no Bungie is not milking the series. They have only made 4 halo games, and there has only been one spin off, halo wars (not by Bungie). And its not even like there flooding the market with new Halo games ever year. Also there is not going to be a Halo 3: ODST 2. Your statement was pure speculation. Final thought why as someone who dislikes Halo must you convince everyone else how horrible it is? This goes for everyone, stop trying to make everyone else see video games the way you see them. If you like Halo good for you, the same goes for Call of Duty fans. Just stand firm in your own choice. Halo and call of Duty can both be good at the same time!

Now, now. Final Fantasy is just extremely open as a franchise, not having to keep to one storyline, so it doesn't feel like it's being milked. To me, anyway. And everyone loves Mario. You know what would happen to Nintendo if they ceased Mario? Plus, his games are great.

I will have to agree with Madden. Really, they're all just carbon copies of each other.

Back on topic: No, not necessarily. Bungie's not stupid or exploitative. Each Halo game has a specific place in the timeline, and some relevance to the story. Now, if we start getting Masterchief's Spartan Laser Training for Natal or something, then it will officially be milked.

Reach is sposed to be the last, after the split frm microsoft they want to do something more story driven.
