I love CoD 4 its the only game that I play on live now, CoD WaW is just crap and they should not let treyarch make another CoD game

I wouldn't call them the greatest games ever either, I think most of them were pretty boring, had the same story, and had the same gameplay. But they have done a lot to improve the genre, especially popularity.Darkside360 said:

No I don't think they are overrated. In fact, I've heard mostly flak from people about 3 and WaW (although most of the people that I've heard complain about WaW haven't played it)

The maps were also,in my opinion very outdated in design and with far too much Large type cover,but not enough in the way of furniture/boxes etc. And in the big maps there was far too little for a fast moving player like me who relies on speed of action/reaction. CoD4 had smooth maps with plenty of crates,furniture etc. to dodge behind,CoD5 had lots of empty rooms.
In my opinion. Camp wars are by definition no fun. (although i don't mind sniper action,however i like things to hide behind during the sniping..see above)
Some more unique ideas would have been nice instead of just a re-skin with about 10 more Sniper rifles.
The tanks are ok but they really need to be less immune to normal grenades. (where's that classical de-treaded tank i see so often in pictures?)
The story line was OMG REVENGZORS!! I really felt this had been overdone,and that this is the main reason 80% of the world hates Americans in general.
The torturing added a hint of sober,sad grandfather to it. Although i understand this did take place,and what my ancestors did to defend my country.... But for God sakes,it's a GAME!
I thought games were supposed to be fun!
And last time i checked torture is not fun.
Perhaps the next game will be better,i hope the next one takes place in the middle east.
Between Israelis and some other middle eastern nations. A glimpse inside those cultures would be good for the Community in my opinion. The cultures are both Rich,and yet so strongly opposed for being so close. Great game to be had there in my opinion.

COD is no way overrated.
I woke up on Christmas morning and opened up COD:WAW. Then I completed it all in one go, then went on the internet to look for information of COD 6.

vCoD/CoD1 and United Offensive are the best of the series in my opinion. Great immersive single player, the graphics still hold up today when Maxed Out (sure, no Bump Mapping, but hey its a 6 year old game with awesome texture work) and one of the best Multiplayer Experiences. Which, if you complain about dying alot, quit playing Health Regen games like CoD2 and Halo and learn how to dodge.
CoD2: Pretty Decent single player, but the regen health and Grenade Markers killed the skill level. Plus way way less map variety. Haven't played multiplayer alot, but I really didn't like what I saw of it.
CoD3: We do not speak of Activision's bastard child, Treyarch should of been eliminated for this one, was the overhyped CoD2 GFX meets CoD/UO gameplay, that was utter fail in the end.
CoD4: Excellent Single Player (Infinity Ward, duh), I like the fact that MP has a Old School mode in honor of vCoD/UO, but the whole regen health and Perk System kills the overall game. Perks should be kept to single player, they should use the old, everyone has the same choice of weapons per faction that made vCoD/UO popular.
CoDWaW: Haven't played it yet.

vCoD/UO was in the top 10 yesterday, and was only recently pushed to 11 by Wolfenstien (which was also made by the same developers and published by Activision) So for an "Overrated" game series, it sure dominates the play lists of gamers, especially on PC, and not counting all the 360 and PS3 hours logged.
WoW of course will always be 1 due to it having the largest Global Player base.

I have cod 4, and i think it is a bit over rated.. It didn't really draw me in, but Battlefield bad company on the other hand.. That is an awesome game with funny characters, plus you can blow everything to pieces.. Destruction is funny 
Rainbox Six: Vegas 2 is far better in my opinion. Better gameplay, graphics and a truely more immersive feel.
Its good but incredibly unbalanced. On CoD5 the best weapon is the MP40, on CoD4 it was the M16 or P90 (CoD4 had larger maps than 5).
And I laugh at people who think they are realistic. I mean, the flamethrower on World At War has a range of a garden rake.
