I never really cared about diablo 3 that much, but I prolly would have bought it eventually.

Now I most certainly won't.

Well I wasn't going to buy the game anyway, but this thing still annoys me.
If I was going to buy it, I probably would've regardless of this, so it wouldn't have been a deal breaker

Not everyone has the internet, either because they don't have the income to spend on it or are in an area that doesn't have a good enough net connection to play games online

I'll buy it and then pirate an offline enabled one.

I have no qualms. I love blizzard and I don't feel they owe me anything, that being said, I believe I have the right to use something I paid for, the way I want.

Of course, I'll only do this after having purchased a copy legally, and only if they don't change their plans.
Despite our previous disagrement, I have to call ditto here. Maybe a custom tool will be created by fans at the same time allowing for mod content.

Why wouldnt I buy it?

It seems to be a great game and I think its quite odd that people rage over something like this when pretty much everyone has broadband (at least where I live)

This DRM crap was a bigger deal for Starcraft 2, which is still a good game and an improvement over the original.

I don't even understand how anyone could get excited over Diablo 3, so Blizzard can add 100 frustrating layers of DRM on that game for all I care.
Maybe the game will be a relative failure and DRM will get the blame. That would be nice.

No offline play is terrible for two reasons:

1) Why, in God's name, does a single player game need to be played online?

2) Where I live, unless you pay an absolutely breathtaking amount of money per month (and sometimes not even then), the internet connection does whatever the hell it wants, in terms of both speed and, well, existence.

Just, why?

Basically, even though it's futile, I feel I should reject this game in the vague hope that the publishers won't be encouraged to do stupid things like this in the future.

The no offline is reason enough not to purchase the product, but I am actually not going to be buying it because they took too long to make it. Seriously, f***ing us around like that, for that long? No money from me.

I agree with justnotcricket.

I'm not particularly interested in this particular game, so it's not going to affect my decision much...

But any game that works like this, no matter how much I'd love to have it, I won't buy, because I couldn't play it properly.

For example, I'm really looking forward to Arkham City. But if it would require online-connection, it would make me (practically) unable to play it, so of course I wouldn't buy it.

So because you have a stable, fast Internet connection, everyone who would like to buy this game do? All those people live in your vicinity?

My internet is kind of...spotty...to say the least, until I move, this means I won't even be able to play single player if the game's actually going to shut down my SP session if I lose connection.
This. There's quite a few people who have their broadband drop in and out throughout the day. I'm happy for those of you who don't, but I commonly lose my connection and end up waiting an hour or more until it gets fixed. Nothing like that to make you feel like your purchase of Assassins Creed 2 was a mistake then being booted for this crap.

The big thing is... there's no reason for this. I don't care what Blizzard says -- there is no good reason for requiring an internet connection constantly OTHER THEN DRM. There just isn't. It's the same reason we used to (and still do for some games) keep the disc in the drive. There's no reason for that. Why the hell did I just install then? Wasn't it copying the files from disc to the HD? There's no reason for that except as a DRM scheme. It's the same thing with a constant internet connection despite anything they say. There's simply no reason for it.

There will be offline play. And it will be absolutely free. And Blizzard deserves it, they've brought it on themselves.

But, as much as I like to stick it to "the man" I'll actually be a paying player, because I am a dedicated fan of the series. But that game had better be fucking phenomenal, because they burned up the majority of my fanboy goodwill.
Then there's this fact -- it'll be totally ineffectual at stopping piracy anyway. Another lame attack on people who actually pay for your game. Guess I'll be both buying and pirating this one...great... (though I'll probably wait till a sale -- not paying full price for something I have to pirate to run properly)

I'm a college student so my internet can be spotty at times and I like being able to play my SP games without interruption. Occasional lag spikes shouldn't mess with SP. I get what they;re trying to do but since it wasn't very high on my "to buy" list, it kind of fell off.
