There are some benefits on going to cinema and watch films with your friends

I watched dead alive (or braindead, whatever) on dvd with my friends, and wouldn't have been as good alone, whenever there's an interesting scene (in this case, hilarious) you can talk about, point at it "did you see that omg", and when we can talk about it afterwards and it's fresh for both of us, since we saw it at the same time

Usually I watch comedys and fun movies with friends, but if there's smething nobody interested in, or if it's old, or if it has been seen by them, there's absolutely no problem going alone.

Sometimes it's even annoying to go with a partner, I went with another friend to watch matrix, but he just couldn't effing shut up about it while it was going, when i'm watching a more serious, focused film, I wanna watch and hear IT

Yes I think it would be really weird for somebody to go to the cinema on their own. Dont ask why its just not something that you do. Its mean for people to go and watch movies with their friends. If I wanted to watch something by myself I would download it and watch it on the tv.

I have no choice.
Although I've never been to one alone...
It's a riddle :p
Clearly you have been wipped and are not allowed outside the house on your own.
Not quite. Although that would have been a better explination.

I would never ever do that. Also, i live pretty far from any cinemas so i would have to take the train there.

I actually prefer going to the cinema alone. Or with one friend, two max. But that's rare, and only if we really have something fun to watch. I love going alone because I make my own schedule, I don't have to argue with people about the time we'll go. I just decide that I'm in the mood to go watch a movie in the cinema, and I go on my own. There's a cinema two minutes from my apartment, and I just get dressed and go there 15 minutes before the show. If there's other people involved, they immediately want to go to other cinema that's half an hour walk and they start negotiating as if it's an attack on the enemy base and I miss the first screening that I've been waiting for. But my favourite way of seeing movies is towards the end of screening, two days or day before the end. The cinema is half empty, I can sit wherever I want and there's maybe only a dozen more people, it's quiet and enjoyable.

Shortly; there's nothing weird or wrong with it, and you're not the only one :)

I think it can be very strange if you do it too much, if you're always going to the movies by yourself, you should probably think about getting some friends. I've been to a few movies by myself, but it's normally because I already had plans that got changed, or was particularly bored.

No, I don't. In fact I find it weirder that people think going to the theater is a group activity, think about your not supposed to talk in a theater, so unless I want to grope my friends, and I don't do that in public, I have no way of interacting with them. Going to the movies is one of the worst group activity you can do in my book.

I'm pretty much forced to go alone, so when I want to see a movie I do so alone. I don't think it's that weird, but I must admit that it's a pretty rare sight in these parts. I saw some other people alone when I went to Inception, but not a single other person when I went to watch...well, anything else.

And it's not weird. It'd be awkward seeing Black Swan with other people, imo.
Heh, I thought the exact opposite. All I could think was "What on earth would they think about a 20-year-old geeky guy going to see a thriller about ballet filled with lesbian and other sex scenes on his own." Even if it only plays in the local art-house theatre. Shame they don't play Trolljegeren, I wouldn't have any reservations about seeing that alone.

Sometimes I find talking about the movie, afterwards and during the break of course, just as fun as the movie itself. While an intelligent, plot and/or character driven movie is something I don't mind to see alone, a movie like Machete or The Expendables looks a lot more fun with a group of likeminded friends. The kind of flicks you have a laugh about afterwards.

I went to Black Swan by myself as well and it was the first time i went to the cinema on my own. I found it to be quite a nice experience. So no, it's not weird at all.

I wouldn't have any problem with it if there was a film I wanted to see and I couldn't round up anyone else, but I don't think I've been to a cinema in a year or so anyway... I think the last thing I saw was Banlieue 13 2, in Russia. I was mainly enticed by the fact the cinema had guiness on sale for 100 roubles (£2), to be honest.

I think it's only weird if you smoke a cigar and laugh loudly and constantly during the movie.

Why not? and I need to concentrate on the film.

I also come at work day, no screaming or crying kids around.

I've never been to a movie alone but some people like going by themselves. I always feel bad for people who go alone...it makes me want to sit by them lol.
