Are black and white colors?
Yes, at least partially. White is actually every color of the spectrum combined.

Black can be debatable. I would include it as a color, but it's technically only the absence of light. What you perceive as black is actually a material/object that isn't reflecting any light. The human mind interprets those portions as black. You can make an argument that because of that, black isn't technically a real color.
Both black and white are shades.

If you're a programmer, invisible certainly is a color. It's the color you pick to be transparent and hence invisible. No, it's not always the same color since it is whatever color the programmer chooses. However, a shade of white or black are popular choices.
This, and Hey! What about us people who work with programming and image editing huh?

I love alpha channel...

You could go with: because colours are a reflection of what lightwaves they don't absorb, invisible is all colours :)

Strictly speaking: no. Visibility refers to a different property than color.

However, the two aren't mutually exclusive, a color can be invisible. Of course this all depends in which context "color" is used (that is to say, no artist is going to use ultra-violet in their paintings).

To be invisible, means you cannot be seen(or are otherwise not visible), it doesn't say anything about the colour of the object. Academically, you could be invisible simply by having another object between you and the observer.

No, the definition of invisible means that that light bends around it, doesn't make contact with it at all, or doesn't fit into the light spectrum to be classified as a color. So it can't be a color, because no light is hitting it.

I was under the impression that "invisible" by definition was not a colour. It's like the absence of matter to reflect light off to make a colour...or something. That last sentance is retroactively confusing me.

depends on what invisible thing you are looking
if you're looking at high frequency electro magnetic waves then the color you are looking for is ultraviolet... on low frequency it is infrared

depends on what you are looking at and how your definition of color is

No, because it is a lack of color. A lack of color can't be a color.
Actually, the lack or absence of color would be black. But if the whole entire universe would were to be drained of color, then there would be only black because black is what shows up when there is no color. Transparency or invisibility just takes on the color of whatever is around it. It does not have a set color and all colors go through it.
So OT: no it is not a color. It isn't even physically possible to call it a color. It's more just a state of matter.

Invisibility is the lacking ability of a material to reflect or absorb light in a way your eyes can pick it up. It means all visible light gets passed through.

Colour is the bandwidth of the light that gets reflected, not the light that does not get reflected (that is, either passing through the material or gets absorbed by the material).

No, invisible things do not reflect light, therefor they show no colour.

UV/infra red is apart of the same spectrum as colour sooooo....maybe?
Colours can be invisible, but invisible is not a colour.
Kinda like cars can be fast, but fast is not a car.
