As far as the look and downloads go, I love it. I think they're both much improved, the only problem for me is that I've been having some serious connection problems ever since the update. I can't even get through a full game of L4D2 with my connection to Steam failing for no reason at all, leaving me to restart Steam to get back online.

Has anyone else been having connections troubles or is it a problem on my end?

From what I've seen, it seems decent. However, I will be largely apathetic on the subject until Valve finally releases Linux support. Seriously, no love for us open-source geeks?

I like it, my only issue is that for some reason when it loads up it doesn't come onto the task bar at the bottom unless I click on it. This may sound like a minor complaint, but as it comes up in the background I quite often am not aware it's loaded until I minimise everything.

Yes, it is just you (and I voted yes). No, the new Steam isn't bad. In fact, I like it very much.

It's just you, I like the new Steam. It looks better and is thusly easier to navigate. Perhaps you were just too used to the old one.

Ooooh, Vista. You have my sympathies. I upgraded to Windows 7 as soon as I could (student discount ftw).

It's pretty, but it's so freaking slow. I want old steam back. Or better performance.

Didn't like steam in the first place, and it seems to start up slower. But that might be something else. And the design, well it's different. The most important change they should have made is "open in new window" function.

I've been able to put up with it, but there are so many forced-changes in there it makes me wonder if even at Valve there's a steam-faced portion of the staff angry about the change.

The UI fails to provide distinctions in color between different sections; it's all this dark black color. It sucks up far more memory than it should for a BACKGROUND PROGRAM for RUNNING MEMORY-INTENSIVE PROGRAMS. Many people, such as the OP, had issues involving needing to reinstall their whole games list (the advice to "reinstall the DLLs" is not helpful if someone has to go on a forum and wait several days for a reply to get it. How about saying it in the error message?) The new view list indiscriminately lists your Uninstalled games with your Installed, and the only way to fix it is to COMPLETELY hide the Uninstalled games, meaning you have to switch view twice if you ever want to install something.

I could go on, but I can't afford to break three keyboards listing everything wrong with it. At the very LEAST they could support the previous version for SOME time as people adjust over. Imagine if Microsoft suddenly said "EVERYONE MUST NOW USE WINDOWS 7". Don't get me wrong, 7 is awesome, but that would be a bad move.

It consumes more memory on average.

It has multiple glitches, like the friendlist will disconnect frequently for no reason.

The above glitch also causes you to disconnect from steam VAC/servers if you are signed on to your friend list.

Okay most PC gamers will know about the new Steam update and I was wondering if people thought it was bad?

I do because it caused me to have to uninstall it and the only way you can backup Steam games is through Steam grrrr. And its got slower.

So do you think its worse or better?

P.S I dint know where to put this so tell me if I am wrong.

EDIT: And know when I open it Steam fails and the shortcuts no longer work...Im so pissed off right now.
are you useing the beta version still because my beta version crashed a few times
Nope I never used the Beta just got the update.
