As a vegetarian I can honestly say PETA is evil. They are a horrendous organization full of hypocrites who need to get their head out of their *ahem* and realize that super meat boy is not advocating meat, Mario's Tanuki suit is not advocating the wholesale slaughter of Tanuki, they bring disgrace to vegetarian's/vegans everywhere and I can't stand them. I do everything in my power to distance myself from those crazies

Now in terms of Hindi and Buddhist faiths, I understand fully well why they eat vegetables and fruits (maybe even animal byproducts) but when it's not limited by religion, I don't know.
Just out of curiosity, why is 'because this book tells me to' better reasoning than 'because animals feel pain and perhaps we should rise above all this animal cruelty malarky'?

And no, I'm not really defending PETA, they're a bunch of fools and I love me some kfc, I just don't like the thought that empathy is seen as 'inhuman' and I don't get why religion is given a free pass, especially when the reasoning behind that religion's choice was likely something to do with feeling empathy for animals. Or avoiding food poisoning, one of the two.
Well I empathize with the religious aspect of it because it basically states that all animals were once human and all humans may have been animals but they died and were reincarnated. So eating an animal is no better than being a cannibal in their faith. Though I guess you do have the right to point out that I am a hypocrite in this respect and that I should I open this kind of thought to all lifestyles. It's just that the thought of meat has been integrated into many diets, it's the natural source of protein for all omnivores. I don't want to sound like a heartless monster and say," I don't feel what they feel so that justifies it," for my reason behind eating meat. Maybe I should spend more time with animals or give a veggie lifestyle a try(I certainly wouldn't mind a diet of nothing but fruit, especially peaches. Georgian-grown, picked fresh-right at the peak of maximum sweetness- and a tinge of red is in the meat... MMM! I love me some peaches somethin' fierce!).

Now looking at what I'm typing I can't help but feel more and more inhuman. I dunno this is startin' to bum me out... I can agree with you that animal cruelty is messed up, Mike Vick should have gotten 30 to life and anyone else that forces animals to fight for sport is f***** up. But in the moral grey areas like medical testing, what else are we to do? Use death row inmates? Sure they're on the way out, but they should at least keep some sort of dignity before they die. And how are we supposed to know the effects of the stuff we test, what if one drug we test on an inmate causes them to vomit blood until they die or create a full body rash that boils away the skin? What else can we do other than sacrifice animals, clone humans for testing?

I said INHUMAN not INHUMANE, big difference.
Yeah, well, I think they're pretty much both. No decent human being is for animal abuse, and I think PETA has done the impossible by turning just about everyone against them. They're pretty much a bunch of anti-human nutjobs who have done WAY more harm than good. You wanna know who's doing good? The humane society. There's a group for you.

I really, really do hate PETA. I am all for animal rights, but making it illegal to own pets like they're trying to do in California is NOT HELPING. What are they going to do with all of those "liberated" animals, dump them on the streets? That's cruel, but hey, I guess being cold and starving and eventually being run over by a semi is better than being forced to sleep on the carpet and eat dog food, right?

Is PETA inhuman? Maybe, maybe not, it really depends on how one defines such a squishy word like "inhuman".

Is PETA inhumane? You bet your ass it is. They euthanize way more animals than they save, they objectify women just to get some attention (they're starting a porn site, for fuck's sake), and the lady who leads the organization is crazy (she sterilized herself because she didn't believe in giving birth) and totally greedy. PETA gives a bad name to animal rights.

Yeah. PETA is obviously run by reptilians disguised as humans. They seek to undermine the human species by weakening its domination over other animals.
Possibly. Extra. Terrestrial. Aliens.?

OT: I also believe they are not human, Dem Aliens are coming for the cows!!! -takes off tin foil hat-

Since 1998, PETA has opted to "put down" 25,840 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding them "forever homes."

PETA to me is an anti-human umbrella organization for various terrorist groups in the same way that Al Qaida is.
