I find that I create female characters much more often than males ones.

Even though many games are called role-playing games, I find that not a lot of actual role-playing even applies.
Therefore, especially in the case of third person perspectives I want to look at something nice.

I think you have to be insecure in your masculinity (or some other issue) to have something fundamental against
playing as a character of the other gender.
If you took offense to that last statement, relax you're obviously taking it too seriously.

It's awwwwwwwwwright. I play females in RPGs more often than not. Mostly just because I like to play the part when I make a character. If I make a spell caster(almost always), they are generally females, simply because all the men are built to look like goddess damned Hulk Hogan. Spell casters are generally very frail and whatnot, and the females, for SOME REASON(ie, chauvinists. >_>) are always very frail looking.

Your poll is horrible. Where's the "Do it in some games, see no problem"?
What he said. Seriously, though. There is no problem with it. Some games even offer different situations based on gender.

The gender of my little bunch of 1's and 0's fails to bother me.
Yep if the story is good, I could care less if lines of binary that form a completely hollow skin seem male or female.

If I have a choise, I enjoy playing as female more. Especially in games like Mass Effect where female Shepard had a voice that screamed with emotion while male Shepard sounded bland, and that made the "best the Alliance had to offer" seem genuinely bored and uninterested in what was happening in the galaxy.

I will always play a male character if possible cause it's easier to see that person as myself, that way I can see the game from the characters point of view better than if I played a female. I had no problems with playing a female character however (besides those Female Nelfs played by 12y.o. boys in wow that flirt with each other >.<)

I find it hilarious how many people have such a hard time distinguishing the difference between a fictional character in a story you control, and their actual physical person.

Just because you control a female character in a game doesn't make you gay. In fact I think its very heterosexual to control women, my girlfriend loves it when I control her.

Everyone who has an issue with dudes who play lady characters needs to seriously grow up. Do you stop reading books with female leads? Stop watching movies? Stop playing games where they dont let you choose and you HAVE to play as a female? Grow UP!

I see no problem with people playing as the opposite gender, but I'm disconcerted that 90% of the pictures for mods on FA3 nexus are female characters. I'm pretty sure the modmakers aren't that high a percentage of female, and I am sometimes worried as to whether a mesh for male characters is included in [ARMOR MOD X].

Most of the time a male is the main protagonist of a game so I got no problem being male if I had a say in the matter. For the most part in RPGs, I like to be female on first preference.

No, male characters are generally more developed. Women are often just love interests for their male counterpart and generally have terrible and annoying characters.

Of course this is just my opinion and there are exceptions.

I don't really see the point in going out of your way to make yourself female, since it rarely changes anything, but I wouldn't laugh at someone who did. If I'm forced to play as a female, I wouldn't complain, though.
Well, in 3rd person games, some people would rather look at the back of a female rather than a male.

I almost always play as a male character because I always feel the characters I create are supposed to be me. Or sometimes Jack McTittyson.

I can't remember the last time I purposely created a female character...I really can't. That's a shame...

No, because if I'm going to stare at a character's ass all day it might as well be an ass I like looking at. Plus females are more badass in games to me.
Ah, once again you read my mind...

I always play with a female character in Fable 2 because they are far nicer to look at while running around in thier pants.

It means eating a buttload of celery though...
