Because I think consoles are far superior for playing video games, is the short answer to that.
Might I ask why?[/quote]

I figured I might as well throw my 2 cents in:

That's really a subjective question, I think, for me the answer would have to be that I feel more into the game when I don't have to run around on the keyboard looking for the "three heavies coming, shit!, help meeeeeeee... uggh" button I can just move my finger 2 centimeters and press the X button, but I do find PC's to be far superior in certain genres, such as RTS's and the like, off the top of my head that's all I can say about them. Besides the fact that to have a good gaming PC, I find that you have to be kind've into the techy side of alot of things to get the most out of your PC, as well as just have the money for both the video card and $60 game you need the card for in the first place, so I just don't feel the need to spend five grand on something I'll only use for a couple of games and alot for writing papers, and playing the occasional online game. To me it's just a question of whether or not I feel I'm getting my money's worth, which is probably why I mostly buy RPG's anymore, and every once in a while a used shooter or something.

In my opinion, No, simply because the consoles are about to cycle. To me, I know that backwards compatibility is something that is viewed these days with dollar signs as opposed to customer service and appreciation. Backwards compatibility should be something that is a no brainier and included, an industry standard, not "ohh we can re-release these and make more money off of them."

I'm in the same boot wondering aboot this. I would get:
-Metal Gear Solid 4
-Uncharted Trilogy
-Infamous Duology
-Gran Turismo 5
-Resistance Trilogy
-Killzone Trilogy
Problem is the money and I'm planning to start making a PS1 Collection

I think it is worth it. Sony has an epic amount of exclusives that are worth playing. This thread has covered them most of them.

Uncharted alone is worth it. Anyone that claim it is not an excellent game hasn't played the cat and mouse level in uncharted 2. Killzone is great. + the PS3 is a bluray player as well some it is more then just a console on plays exclusives on.

Honestly I own a PS3 and quite frankly, it simply is an expensive piece of hardware with only a handful of unique games.
ON ITS OWN, its a good system, but in combination with others i find it falls flat. My PS3 is currently collecting dust as my PC is handling the brunt of my gaming. I personally would not purchaise my PS3 could i go back in time and stop myself.

It was for me. I bought one almost a year ago and have used it a lot despite only playing exclusive games on it.

For the exclusives? No.

For the fact that it uses an easily upgradeable non proprietary hard drive, plays blu-rays, the games look better (yes, they do), due to the blu-ray increased storage, the games run better and install less, yes.

Oh and I hear the PSN is unhackable.

Not knocking on Xbox, I just don't see why, if given the choice, I wouldn't pick the Ps3 as it suits my personal tastes and needs.

Depends on what you like to play. I don't give a crap about most of the exclusives, so to me? No. If not for Blu Ray, I might have skipped out entirely.

Not really sure what Xbox has that is exclusive nowadays. It all tends to be on pc aswell.

So if you have a PC and a PS3 that's everything covered bar the odd wii title of course.

Plus PS3 has free online service, blu ray more graphical power and it hardly ever breaks. It's definitely worth the money.

I happen to love my PS3. It has some of my favorite games this gen, and I can pay $10 for games I missed on the PS1 that would cost $25 at the least anywhere else. If you like what it offers. Heavy Rain, Disgaea, God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Demons' Souls, Flower, Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Solid are all great if you like the genres they're in.

Got to remember, Sony is making a new PS4 so, It might not be worth it.
Who knows if it will have backwards compatibility though.

There were enough games for me to say yes, but it depends on your taste in games. Disgaea was one of the main reasons for me and others apparently.

Here's a list of PS3 exclusives [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:playStation_3-only_games] and are there any of those you want to play really badly?

As a PS3 owner and that has owned all Sony game consoles, I say no, it's not worth it. Uncharted and inFamous games are great, but after they're beaten, they're beaten. There's not too much replay value. We used to have Demon's Souls, but now there's there superior Dark Souls for the 360 as well.

I spend the VAST majority of my time on my PS3 playing multi-platform games, and when I have to name my top games of this generation, no PS3 exclusives are on that list. Therefore, I couldn't recommend spending the money on a PS3 if you have a 360. Now if you just had a Wii, that's a different story...

For one or two games. Its a waste of money. If you have your eye on 10, 20 or more games, It way worth it. That why I don't own a Xbox 360. three games I had my eye on aren't worth it. Also, two of the games had ports to the ps3, one better quality to.
