The fact that you mentioned side-missions has worried me, because I wasn't haven't actually encountered any at this point in the game. I guess it really might take 2 weeks...

Ah well, there goes my study time.
Well, technically there aren't really side-quests per se. They are sort of hidden ones that you don't need to do, but if you don't do them or know of them, you'll miss out on kick ass equipment and summons. Plus it doesn't obviously tell you what to do to get said stuff, you have to sort of...stumble upon it, or look it up online.

By the way, where are you in the story exactly?

I've had this lingering urge lately to bust out my old PS2 to play some Blitzball on Final Fantasy 10, however, I don't have any saves on my old memory cards and so would have to replay most of the game to be able to play Blitzball. What do you think?
if you think its worth it, go for. i personally hated blitzball, but i know im in the minority

I personally spent almost half of my playing time playing Blitzball, partially to get all the items, partially because of the awesome music, and partially because I simply liked it as a change to the other tasks at hand in-game. (btw, my longest save has around... 260 hours clocked in it >_>)
Wait, Dad, you have an account here? (I'm kidding about you being my dad, but he had a file with nearly as many hours.)

on topic: I started a new playthrough recently and found myself playing blitzball more than I ever had before (didn't have the patience for it, even though I have won the one game you're required to play).

I fucking hated blitzball. I stopped playing ffX because I couldn't get past the first blitzball match.

You know, I've never been one for sports games. Never really understood the point of playing a virtual sport when you could go outside and play the real thing.

That being said... I actually enjoyed Blitzball, at least enough to not dread playing it when it came up in the story, and I did play my fair share of it when I was trying to get all the ulitmate weapons.

So I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Blitzball is just fun. Hell, if I still had my backwards-compatable PS3, I'd probably pop in FFX myself.

I personally thought Blitzball was utter shit. Of course that's just me. As for you, I don't see anything wrong with playing a game just to play a certain feature that you really liked about it.

You know you didn't actually had to win that right? The game continues regardless of whether you win or lose in that game.

I loved Blitzball so much. Seriously, I spent more time playing Blitzball than the rest of the game...and I spent a lot of time playing the rest of the game...

Considering how much fun Blitzball is, the answer from me is a definite "no".

Seriously, I probably spent 60+ hours just playing Blitzball on my first run of that game.

I personally hate Blitzball. Mainly because I suck at it. If I weren't so bad, I would imagine that it would be much more enjoyable, it is after all nearly an RPG contained within an RPG (with all the stats, levels, and recruiting).

Go for it, that meta-game sucked away a good bit of my time, almost as much as the game it's based around. I care not for what others think, I loved it! ...This is why you need to care what I think, and do what I say! PLAAAAAY!

It wouldn't be wrong, just certifiably insane. ;)

But this is from someone who couldn't win a game of blitzball to save her life, so I might have a tiny bias there. Tell you what, I'll do you a deal. I'LL play the storyline, YOU play the blitzball. How about that?

Ugh... I hated Blitzball. All you do is score once then hide behind the goals with the ball.

i dont think its MORALLY wrong...but you should seek out serious psychological help. blitzball got real old real fast...you might enjoy meaningless repetitive tasks too much. you also might be a necrophiliac; thats just my guess though.

speaking as someone who greatly enjoyed FF8 and triple triad...i cannot fathom how one could WANT to play blitzball outside of grinding it for whatever it gives you (i forget; ive repressed my memories of blitzball).
