The only potentially dangerous one is Red Rover, I mean come on you're practically running full speed into another kid. That said I think dodgeball is more dangerous than any of these, and its not; the only thing you had to worry about was getting beamed in the nuts.

That said, now I miss my childhood :(
Correct, kids have died playing football. I still wouldn't want to see it banned.

Perhaps it's my crazy reading, but the regulations were struck down for being "too narrow" and "micromanaging". The only reason they're being brought up is to close a loop hole that allows indoor camps to face almost no regulation. These "overbearing regulations" are already in effect for outdoor camps and allow these games to be played. They also don't say it's "too dangerous" but say that these, along with a host of other games, are dangerous enough to require someone be there to take care of the inevitable boo boos.

So it looks like another fake "Lawyers are ruining America" story. Somebody call Cracked.

OP is extremely misleading.

red rover is MEANT to hurt... Kickball, not so much. YOu have to be a failign dumbass piece of shit to get hurt in kickball.
Kids are getting fucking retarded from all this babying.
I would disagree. I can remember many a game in my school where the common technique to get you out while you ran the base was to either throw kick the ball into your face and knock you off the base line. We had kids bare the marks for days.

... actually... one kid got a scar. he got knocked right into the cyclone (diamond shape) fence, and has three and half diamons scarred into his face. But he got right back up and ran the bases.
so in other words the courts have nothing to say on the matter, if one wants to play kickball, make it so you either have to tag the kid or throw the ball. A gym teacher is hte authority here.

such a hard concept, I know.

This is just evidence of a problem as old as time. Some people are great. Most people are alright. Some people are shit.

It's a bell curve in proportions, but in actual "weight" the upper end of the dickishness curve dominates.

What I mean is this:

Life is a pool party. Some people bring drinks and snacks for everyone to share, most people hang out and have a good time and some retards do whatever they like and take a shit on the diving board.

Out of all these people, the one person who fucks things up for everyone is the most memorable.

About the only way around this is to have someone equally dickish working against the dickish people. Think Boondock Saints. People doing bad things to worse people.

I dunno...

I'm only in my twenties, but I swear I deserve to use the "back in my day" argument.

When I was a kid I was at all times bruised, grazed, bloodied or in some way dirty. And that was the way I motherfucking liked it.

I want to know where this "KIDS ARE GLASS FIGURINES" ideology came from because its downright unfathomable to me.

people are to careful for kids these days. i live in Canada and it gets pretty snowy in the winter, so huge snow piles would build up as they plowed the paved part of the school. these snow piles would get ice on the as people kept sliding down them, so what do they do? they plow down the freaking snow hills. and don't even get me started on the snow forts it's like a kid can't get hurt these days. this was back in elementary btw

I only think Red Rover would be dangerous, mostly for peoples arms. But other than that everything else is fine. What are kids supposed to play now? I mean Basketball/Hopscotch could be seen as equally as dangerous if you think about it. And those metal constructs some schools have? They could fall... Lets just wrap them in bubble wrap and make them all wear helmets.

Its not really about them destroying america, more just that someone feels they need looked at in the first place. I mean, it is just Kickball.

And also the changes that would be made because of that summer camp uplifting status.

Our gym teacher didnt really care how we tagged. But I'll admit, we played something of a more extreme kickball. Ours was always wet, then rolled around int he sand. I'm not agreeing iwth it being too dangerous, I'm just agreeing that it can get rough if you make it that way. But anything can really.

They're closing a loophole made because previous legislation determined summer camp (versus a day care) based on enclosure. Basing it on activities seems wildly more appropriate to me. I honestly see nothing wrong with calling an indoor place where you play kickball a "camp" and treating it as such.

It isn't about kickball being "too dangerous" at all. None of the news articles even mention that. Of course, there's only one actual news article. The rest are pretty much pure opinion and seem to be making huge factual errors.

You want the government involved in everything you do? The government sucks at regulating it also goes too far.

The losing hurt more than the actual ball hitting me (except wend it hib me right on da nose), and the other kids were to busy playing the game to make fun of you.
lol u dont play the dodgeball that we do i think we try to kill each other personaly and that is probly what the people who dont want there kids to get hurt think all the time when it comes to sports/P.E.

What would make you think I want the government involved in everything I do? Are you trying to slippery slope?

Outdoor camps have faced the same safety regulations for years and I don't remember hearing anyone complain.

PFEH! Back in my day the only things we had to do at recess were beat the crap out of each other with sticks, or play kickball. Jeez, if these kids don't have rubber balls pelted at them/kicked in their general direction, how will they be ready for the future?

How else are kids supposed to toughen up when playing outside? I may have gotten hurt a lot playing wallball and red rover but I can tell you felt like a badass when I won a game.

Kids are going to grow up to be wimps. When I was a kid, I played red rover, kickball, and dodgeball (until my school became dickish and banned it) and I turned out fine.

Really? What happened to the good old days when dodgeball and all those other play-yard games were the only reason to go out to recess?

That's because your not looking for them I just typed in camps and overregulation and found a few sources http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/64524/lawmakers-kick-back-over-kickball-regs/

Government always goes too far with regulations and all it does is cost the taxpayers money and kill businesses

Here is another example although unrelated to the topic at hand of over regulation
