Check youtube and every Machinama on it. They are all high quality works from avid PC gamers. Most fan made work and mods that make the developers' jaws Drop are all from PC gamers.

PC gaming community is way too big to allow PC gaming to die. As long as valve and blizzard keep making their PC games works of art we will survive :D

I do not really know, what do you mean by that. Years back everything was fine and i did not even consider thinking that i once will have to talk about this.
What he means to say is that people should stop thinking that PC-gaming is dying, because it is not! We see these topics almost weekly. "Less Frequently Debated" in his comment aims at the post/topics made about this subject. Atleast it does to me.

OT:
I do no think it's dying. If it were, why would developpers go through the trouble of even making games for the platform? Recent example, Maybe SC2? Maybe upcoming Cataclysm or other multi-million Dollar projects like GuildWars2?
Ok...that are 3 games, But: Catalysm is just another expansion pack for the addicted WoW players. And i see that the only thing you need to defend a game is a trailer with promises. And promises are promises, and developers always promise something revolutionary and epic, and at the end, we see just see the same thing over and over again.

Machinima, ok lets see: some Modern Warfare 2 commnetaries played on a console. Whatever. I take another look, and i see a shitload of Halo 3 or Garrys Mod machinima. In fact, that is the only thing i see there.

No, not really. PC ain't going to die. The quality though...well, that's another matter entirely isn't it?

(note:I'm not referring to PC gaming in particular with that last sentence)

Oh my, I seem to have stirred something. First, it's the Topic I commented on, there are vast libraries of games released and more that are about to be released. You seem to have missed my point that I commented first on. The fact that this is a repetitive thread with the same answers over and over again. The person, who you quoted and commented on pointed you at your.. "wrong-doing" and I commented on his. Now there's no need to attack someones personal values. I've played GW since the start, I have confidence in the game, and even when the people like you, say it should deliver first, to me it already has. For me it cannot fail.

"Ok.. that are only 3 games." I'm sure you would not like to see the lists I can compile about upcoming game releases. I just named the ones I care about.
"Addicted WoW players." I do not play WoW, but you, Sir, are generalising. Something you should we wary of.

Now back in your cage.

ANSWER: NO because PCs are not going anywhere and even if the market for PC games decreases people will always buy at least one PC game and if that's the case there are a lot of people who only play PC games because they have a PC but no home console mainly because the PC is also a tool and game consoles are just for entertainment. END OF ANSWER

PC gaming is going to die when all life is extinct.
So yeah, it's going to die...some day.

EDIT: Damn, I forgot about artificial life. Yeah, it's not going to die. Ever (maybe).

Hello, no, shut up already with PC gaming dying.
Pratically this.

After a wholesome game of DA:Origins on my mates high-end PC, I can happily say that PC gaming is still going strong, and all the tri-console releases will get a PC port eventually.

And with Deus Ex 3, we can still be playing the shit we like, old school and in HD with a mouse and keyboard.

No. And neither is console gaming. The gaming industry makes waaaaaaay too much money on both fronts to be considered "dying".

I hope not, I can't afford a PS3 or a 360 and won't for a while! My PC is the only thing keeping me sane! (well... sort of sane!)

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No, and shut your pork trap because I'm damn sick and tired of hearing about how PC gaming is "dying" as my Steam account continues to do to my bank account what the Suck-Cut does to Garth's will to live.

Seriously, though. PC gaming isn't dead, it isn't dying, and anyone who claims otherwise needs to wake up.

Firstly, i dont care for your attacking. I did not attack you, i just did say my opinion. And of all the upcoming releases that will be ON the Computer, i can already now say that most of them will be another promises and promises and the same thing over and over again . And the matter about WoW: What should i be wary off?Sure that the players will care about the expansion, but Blizzard has just to announce a expansion, and the whole world is going " Oh this will be epic, because Bizzard did say it will be epic, and who says it wont, should go to jail." aka the "real game critic syndrom" like IGN, which do praise every big release just so they dont get trolled, and everyone then goes with what they say.

The posted picture pretty well covers it. PC gaming has been "dying" for longer than I've been in love with it.

And I'm a pretty old man.

"Everyone's survival rate eventually drops to zero."

Well fuck if I can remember where I heard that quote from.

As i see, many of you just dont get my point. I am talking here the whole time about the quality of the game, and not if the games do sell. Sure, that when they just port the game to the PC, that at last one person will buy it. But does that mean it will be good, or that they did focus while developing on the computer, OR that they will then focus on computers? No.

No, because people go after numbers, when a title is hot, reviewers do praise it, everyone will buy it. For example: Modern Warfare 2

Everyone including reviewers did say it is nice, so it did sell a shitload of copies. But how did it turn out? That it was good for the console gamers, but absolutely junk on the computer. But still it does sell, because people rather care for what sale numbers and reviewers say rather than having they own opinion.

And that is what i am pointing at: we can have 1000 releases, all of them ports or junk, people will buy it, hate it or love it because masses of people are gonna praise it, the developers will be happy for the money they get from the sales, and the money they save from focusing on consoles. And that is the thing which is killing at last PC gaming for me: i dont want every year to have a shitload of cheap junk under my desk to play, when before years back i had under my desk and on my HDD very nice games, while now i play maybe 1-2 good releases a year.

WoW: Cataclysm, Starcraft 2 Trilogy, Portal 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 3, TF2's Highlander Tourney AND the upcoming Polycount Pack, all the new games released on Steam, it's not. And welcome to the Escapist. We are a ruthless bunch, but if you don't do anything that pisses at least 27 people off (don't ask me why it's 27), those 27+ people won't remove your face by massive force.

Oh god, I hear you man, especially after that damn summer sale. I just hope that the QuakeCon sale doesn't have anything worth buying that I don't have already.

Why does people think that PC gaming is dying when it's bigger than ever and still growing?
Gaming computers are still outselling the PS3, 360, Wii, PSP and DS combined.
It just doesn't make any sense.

I guess it's like how the movie and game industry are 'suffering' severe, nay fatal losses, due to piracy.
Despite the fact they're both ridiculously massive industries that's still growing.

It's all stupid.
