From what I can tell the problem isn't the PC gaming industry, its you.

You're stuck in 'sky is falling' mode and can't enjoy the good things available.
Haha this is the best response I've ever heard to these thread. You made my night.

Well fuck if I can remember where I heard that quote from.
That's a quote from fight club I think.
"On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero."
Well I never watched/read Fight Club, so I must have read it off of someone's post.

Yeah, it gets quoted a lot here. No one mentions it's from fight club though, because, you know, the rules.

Oh no. Don't be stupid. Of course PC gaming is going to die.

You see, entertainment technologies like this are dependent on the business community making use of the technology as well to give steady support for the industry of building these machines so that consumer uses can then be developed. Things like cell phones and air travel is the same way.

Before long, corporations and government institutions and the like will finally realize that using computers to help manage their businesses was just a fad and go back to old reliable paper and storage houses full of filing cabinets. When that happens, PC's themselves will cease to exist and PC gaming will go with it. And what a boon to society that will be, too!

Nope, PC gaming is alive and kicking. It always has been and always will be. Exclusives, mods, dedicated servers and the like will keep it going, even for the games that came out 5-10 years or more ago. And for those who say there aren't or are very little PC exclusives, here is a list of just SOME of the PC exclusives that came out this year alone.

List of PC exclusives

The fact that you dont need to get the game certified (or whatever) by Microsoft to sell it means that PC games will never truly die.
Give consoles this ability, and put a mouse and keyboard on them, and guess what, you just made a computer, save for a few minor differences ('TV' instead of 'monitor')
and as long as consoles dont at least have a keyboard, RTSs will happily thrive on the PCs

Check youtube and every Machinama on it. They are all high quality works from avid PC gamers. Most fan made work and mods that make the developers' jaws Drop are all from PC gamers.

PC gaming community is way too big to allow PC gaming to die. As long as valve and blizzard keep making their PC games works of art we will survive :D
Machinima, ok lets see: some Modern Warfare 2 commnetaries played on a console. Whatever. I take another look, and i see a shitload of Halo 3 or Garrys Mod machinima. In fact, that is the only thing i see there.
I meant Machinima done using programming, search for Civil Protection by Ross scott, tf2 Machinima such as Law Abiding engineer etc, HL2 pc gamers made the Escape from city 17 (Purchase Brothers), and Gmod Idiot box by DasBoSchitt or the Fallout 3 machinama The DC chronicles by Drakortha. There are many more I cant even remember especially for tf2. They keep PC gaming alive.

Watch these vids and you decide ;D you are gonna be impressed.

This is business and in business money talks.
As long as they can make money from PC gaming, PC gaming will never die.

To add, the fact that Xbox360 games are similar to PC games it takes little time and money to make them work on PCs. Spend some additional time, a bit more money and with luck your make an additional million.

Not to mention that there are way to many interested parties here. Even if lets say EA decided it will no longer support PC games, I am certain that a hardware producer would step up, because a large portion of their top of the line and medium range products are sold because of PC gaming and it would really hurt their revenue, if there were no more PC games.

Nope.avi

PC gaming cant die, the pc makes the code, that makes the games on all consoles, do you think programmers use the xbox to code video games?

Never. Starcraft 2 just came out and sold incredibly well, and games like The Sims 3 didn't go straight to console despite the HUGE market for them. The niche games and sheer amount of games you can get on the PC is staggering. If it's dying, then console gaming must be near death.

It won't die unless consoles somehow become enough like PCs to do all the things PCs can do. Of course, most of that is down to the market, and I can't see any reason the console market would change in such a way. Pretty much the only necessary difference is that consoles aren't an independent platform. If that were to change (uh, somehow) then it would be consoles that were dead. Or at least their business model, which is basically the only thing consoles are (well, there's also prebuilt hardware, but customisation options are just another part of PCs being independent). If consoles were to kill PC gaming, it would be by doing the things PCs do, which would mean they had become prebuilt PCs. PCs are killing console gaming!
