I think the only thing that the OP is going to get out of this that he'd actually WANT is a little badge for having wasted everyone's time with an ignorant, redundant, and poorly researched question created a thread with replies/pageviews in the triple digits.

Playing along with this asinine substitute for an empirical search for truth, the only answer I need to provide can be summed up in one word: Steam.

Well your first thread A) Sucks B) Is so very over done, please try harder next time

Why would a medium that has was built for internet and multiplayer be dying off just as console are entering an era of online and multiplayer?

Wow, the poll is showing some results i did not expect.
I thought there were more people here who were on the Console side. But looks like i was wrong. Well great news, i say.

Dear PC, live long and prosper!
So? Just because people like console gaming doesn't mean they have to think PC gaming is dying. They even might, for some stupid reasons, believe that PCs are inferior to consoles but that doesn't mean they have to think PC gaming is dying.

OriginalJoeBlack, your poll says no. (and maybe twice??)
easy , pal. Yes, i might have missed the point i was trying to say, but it happens when your native language isn't English. I meant that i thought there were more people who wanted the PC to die, or just believed that it will die, on this site.
My bad.
Umm... Nope, there is a HUGE proportion of this site that are PC gamers (many multi-platform)
You'll find that nobody(with a sane mind) wants the PC to die, it does a billion other things then games, and it will not go away. The PC is a incredibly long way to becoming obsolete (how long is forever?) and until then it will still have a roll to play in gaming (aside from all the development and advertising).
Well, that's great. But there are always flamers and trolls, and i kinda feared they would jump into this thread ASAP. But looks like the mods are doing a good job. So i guess, all's well that ends well.

No, just no, you seen steam? You see it's this thing that has MASSES OF PC GAMES TO BUY! And by masses I mean masses, no, pc gaming is going no-where.
I see you dont get what i am talking here about. Just because you see " its for the PC HORAAAY" doesnt mean it was primarly for the computer, nor that it will be good, just because STEAM does sell it.
And what does everyone have with that a few games in a year are actually good for the PC? From all the games that come out and COULD have been something, most of them are just-silly-ports for the PC that most of the players dont see, or just forgive the developer and go with the masses that say it is "epic".When it reality, it is junk.
Dude, there have been allot of junk games on ALL PLATFORMS, not just the pc.
You look like a zero punctuation fan boy that obsesses over it to the extent of using an avatar nearly identical to the creator's, so surely you've watched the videos on what HE has to say on xbox and ps3 exclusives, they are just as ripped on and hated as pc games. Not loved MORE than pc games but hated just as much as them.

I still don't get how you can think pc gaming is dying due to the quality of the games, 1st of all whether or not you like a game is based on OPINION, lots of people love the games you dislike .
2nd of all if games "die" based on their quality then the NINTENDO WII is the one that's dying! NOT THE PC.

This is the 1st time you have heard the phrase "pc gaming is dying" and your'e overreacting, the quality and sales of pc has been happily dying for decades now...

Console Gaming is dying!!

- see, i can do that too you know :)
I'm actually going to go ahead and just agree with this. Consoles are trying more and more to be more accessible and flexible (ie. Media centers - or ie. more like a PC) because they're trying to catch the pack leader. There are more multiplayer games on the PC, there are more genre possible mashups on the PC and there are more apps on the PC. All of this means that the PC is a better gaming platform, still. With constant hardware advancements it'll continue to be the better choice while hardware advancements in the console world means trashing your current model and replacing it with a new one.

If Sony and Microsoft ever hold hands and cross platform maybe PC superiority will be in question, but not before then.

for course not, in fact you can argue that CONSOLE gaming is slowly dieing out nowadays. think about it...

at this point consoles are becoming a hell of a lot more like PCs and because there really isn't any graphical upgrade significant enough to justify a new console (safe for the wii) they keep updating the software of Xbox and PS3 now. we also have DLC and can DL music/movies/show/Emails through consoles.

so yeah you can kind of say console gaming is dieing and being assimilated by PC gaming.

This argument about Steam has been in a few replies and I find that argument weak. Considering Steam just opened up to Mac users, how long do you think before Steam opens up to consoles? Sooner or later it's going to happen.

Yep, the PC will die. Nevermind that every Blizzard, Valve, Bethesda, and Bioware game will be on it, but also every RTS, sim game, MMO, and most FPS games.

Not really, Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo already have a download system for their games. There'd be absolutely no point in putting in two systems that do the same thing.

Gaming computers are still outselling the PS3, 360, Wii, PSP and DS combined.
Then wtf are there more games being developed and released for the consoles? Why are consoles are more of a priority for some Devs?

It doesnt make sence either.
It's a unified platform and certain genres do better on consoles because it's a different audience.
PC games also outsells all console games combined.

No, it will not die. The worst thing that will happen is that it will gradually transition into a platform for casual social gaming and little else.
