No.

It was never had the most fast paced rate of releases, but that's not too much away from the number of quality games it has.

Square Enix's and Konami's support alone give the console a notable backlog, and they seem to continue that support.

The PSP is indeed dead, the only good games are the GTA games and God of War..
Then you are not looking hard enough, which seems to be the case with most people when they pull out that asinine claim.

Mine retired my GBA and is still alive and kicking. I'm hoping the PSP Go will bring better PSN support. Like, for instance, Mega Man 9, which would be great on either handheld.

i have a PSP, i mainly bought it because i had a bunch of PSone games and i had nowhere to play them, so i converted them and play them in the PSP

but thats it, i dont play anything else than PSone games, except for "PataPon" i never liked the other games in the PSP (or at least liked them enough to pay a full title price for them)

if the PSPgo can be plugged in to the pc and modded as the PSP, i´m all for it!, lets just hope it does (me?? i will wait to see what it can do before actually buying it)

It died a long time; but they are artificially keeping it alive, dropping some relatively relevant release every few months and absolutely nothing more.

though i am not a psp owner i have noticed a trend in psp developemnt and it looks good. several major developers are investing quite a bit of money in psp game developement, granted its growth has been slow but i see its prime hasnt even hit us yet. p.s. remeber more psp's have been sold then PS3 and 360's combined :)

Sony make a hell of a lot of money from the PSP in Japan. Hell... I love the thing. Couldn't stand not having a browser or playing music or anything with the DS.

Up until E3 of this year it looked like the developers were moving on and waiting for a new playstation handheld. But with all the new titles coming out this fall (LBP, GTA CW just 2 that I know for me are first day buys) the psp has some years left in it

Truth is, it is in limbo. A state between life and death. It is not dead, but it is not exactly alive either has very few talk of it has occurred.

Few reasons.
1- Lack of good games. Sure there are some, but for the most part they are mediocre at best.

2- Watching movies on a TINY screen is not that great. Sure it would be nice to watch movies, but like Yahtzee said who wants to watch in teeny-tiny-eye-strain-vision.

The problem is not with the PSP, but with Sony. They are not focusing on the games and game development. Instead they keep either stealing from Microsoft to push multi-ports of popular games or they spend so much time getting actual good game out that the competition.

The PS3 and PSP are the more powerful, but they are so busy with "features" that they neglect the heart of what it is...the games. You cannot call yourself a game system and have very few to no games on it.

Listen, you have to have games on the system. No no, you Sony fanboys calm down. Yes both have games, but it is not enough. You wonder why the competition is beating you out because Microsoft is smart and buying up all the right, while you Sony sit here and twiddle your thumbs wondering how you can get more PS3 off the shelves.

Stop focusing on the system and start focusing on the games. What is the point of the power if you refuse to use it?

I would have said it was a good handheld device, but my analog is broken therefore my PsP is nothing but a giant mp3 player. I am not biased, I just feel that even before the analog broke, my PsP was dead.

I don't think it died, it just didn't do as well as the DS. There have been some good titles for the system (Patapon, GoW).

I'm thinking the PSP is dead. It didn't have that many good games in my opinion. I barely liked any of the games I bought, and they were loved by reviewers everywhere. The only game I liked on it, before I sold it, were Ape Escape, Megaman (Powered up and Hunter), and God of War. The music was badly compressed when I put music on it, the photos took up more memory than I thought a photo should have, and the web application was terrible. It was only after I thought about which console I had was the worst, I realized it.

Owning both a PSP and a DS i look up games for both, and in truth both very rarely put out any quality games. In the end though they are about even. SOny just can not launch a system, although in the end that system is a hit. Just think :They are STILL selling bloody PS2s! And that had a bad launch. The PSP came out and tripped over the starting line, but so did the PS2 and PS3 and they always end up catching the competition if not excelling.

The DS is the one I'm wondering now if it's dead. The only new good release that has gotten me to go and dust it off is Scribblenauts, and the only update to the new DS seemed to be a camera, which I think is just wierd.
