I'm from Boston where they just segregated all the black people to the very poor areas. So I guess there isn't a problem anymore....

(I kid. I kid.)

Boston is oddly racist in which there are parts like Southie (or most areas that include a large population of multi-generation Bostonians) that are racist. However, due to many colleges, their is a ton of educated youth in Boston, which results in acceptance.

In Britain, there is a huge amount of racist humour, but while it may appear barbaric and horrible to some Americans, you can pretty much make fun of anything you want in Britain. We have a completely different attitude to the rest of the world. Which isn't necessarily a good thing. There is not a single thing we won't take the piss out of. Many of my friends are black and we all laugh at Racist jokes, in the same way that many of my female friends laugh at sexist jokes.

That said, Racism is still rife in many areas, particularly in the North of England, there's usually a story in the news just about every day that has something to do with 'racially motivated attacks' and the such like. People disapprove, but there are plenty of people who don't care and just want to exert their anger and violent tendencies and they'll take any excuse, not just racism.

In Australia unfortunately there is a big issue going on with "attacks on Indian students". Which is hypocritical of us as a nation considering anyone who live here is an immigrant, descended from bastard convicts or an "ethnic minority".

In Denmark a 90 if not 100% of us are racist. 30 % of us being HARDCORE racists. Not even bothering to call anything else than whites human beings. I mean its not just a problem which i why i put my vote in the other. Its just a fact of life.

I live in australia and it's a semi-big issue where I live. Mostly either against Indians because they "took our jobs" (Plus every call you get from telstra is an india person who is pretending to be in sydney when everyone knows thats BS, but they're just doing there job.)

The other one is probably rascism agaisnt aboriginals, which I suppose is more of a history thing though. I only met one really rascist person and it's not really prevalent in the younger generation.

Aye. In Hungary, Gypsies are very unpopular.
Worse yet, they don't exactly change this with quite a few of them being unemployed, and quite a few of those being common street thugs.

Everything is an issue in the Sutherland Shire. If you aren't a caucasian 20-40 year old, odds are most people in your local pub will hate you and even pick a fight.

Kind of. In my city, there's not that much racism, but at the moment, in another town, there is a gunman who's aiming solely for black people, and the racist party just made it into the riksdag...

I don't reckon so. We have huge Polish and Indian communities in Southampton. There is a good ethnic diversity from the University too.

in my country there is racism, because in our language we call africans "neegers". its mostly not meant rasistically, and the old folks dont see a problem within.
some people say, that jews should be called hebrews, because calling someone a jew isnt nice, and has a rasistic tone. but that too is in our language, and its not so easy to handle.

I live in Sweden. Rasism is very frowned upon and people who are racists tend to be seen as "idiots". Only real problem we have is that most muslims were segregated in special areas when they came here as refugee's. Thus they never really became part of society wich has left them with a "Us Vs Them" mentality. They're usually the racists, but this is caused by our previous government being complete fucking idiots.

And due to a couple of decades with alot of nazi fuckers soiling our swedish heritage, history and flag. You can barely be proud of your heritage and history. If you are, and are so openly wich I am. You have to endure lots of bullshit from brainwashed liberal idiots that call you a nazi. But I will forever wear my hammer proudly, because someone has to fight the nazi's monopoly on the damn thing.

Gypsies are unpopular wherever they go mate. If they arent stealing they're robbing you. Or put a knife against your throat forcing you to marry one of their daughters.(Seen all this happen many times. Apart from the marriage part only happened once on a friend, he lied his way out of that one claiming to be married.)

I wouldn't really call it a problem, but kids at my high school make racist jokes and stereotype like they're all insensitive assholes... which hey kinda are...
Nothing wrong with racist jokes imo, so long as it's clear that its a joke.

Been tackled walking down a street cause I was wearing a Kipa (religious Jewish headwear), that and hearing constant insults and shit behind my back at the time. It's only a few select arseholes though so I wouldn't say its a huge issue here, quite a few people don't even know what a Jew is.

Romania here, and pretty much the same issue.
However, I wouldn't exactly call it racism. At worst, maybe stereotyping.

You won't see anybody treating badly a Gypsy person that has what you'd call normal body hygiene (and hopefully even a halfway respectable job), and there is minimal resistance to giving a Gypsy heritage person any kind of job just based on his "race" alone.
You will see almost exactly the same kind of treatment some would rush to call "racism" towards obviously non-Gypsy people that engage in street begging (or worse), and nobody will give a job to somebody you wouldn't stand to be in a room with out of fear your stomach might turn inside out due to the stench.

The stereotype of the Gypsy people comes from the fact a significant number of them refuses to follow "social norms": not registering births unless they want to qualify for aid and sometimes not even then, not bothering to get national identity cards (that anybody else has no issue getting) unless they get in trouble with the law and they have to, not bothering to send kids to school (even if the school is free of charge AND mandatory) because the kids are put to work (even that is kind of illegal), and that work is usually begging (after some parents willingly mutilate their children to earn more money while begging) or worse, stealing and resorting to violence... all the time living mostly in abject poverty (since somebody with no schooling and no papers has an extremely tough time getting a job) and neglecting their personal hygiene (which makes them repulsive to most people)... or in opulent wealth displayed with extremely bad taste (the very few that managed to "get ahead" in their criminal careers).

There might be a lot of Gypsies that don't follow that particular stereotype, but it doesn't take a clear majority for the stereotype to exist and perpetuate. And if non-Gypsies would do that, they'd be treated just as badly.
What would you call a dislike of "rednecks" or "chavs" ? Certainly not racism, right ?
The fact most of them do share the same race is just coincidental.

So, no, it's not racism... it's... I don't even know what to call it, when it's not the race your loathe, but the character or actions of a person.
Bum-phobia ? Dislike of beggars ? Hatred of crass, uneducated people ?
Does it even need a special name ?
At worst, you could call it "racial profiling", I guess. But it's at most valid as a vague first impression.

It's not really a problem here in Australia. The real problem is people falsly acusing others of being racist to get what they want.

I'd call itt common sense combined with a sad truth.

And yeah, you pretty much said everything I couldn't (fuckin' hell, my vocabulary needs serious work), so thanks for that.
