Racism is something I hear about a lot, so I was wondering if it was a problem around the world as much as it seems to be a hot button issue here in the US. Is it an issue in the country/state/city/town you live in?

I live in Georgia, but in the suburbs around Atlanta. I'd say racism is there, but in my generation, extremely rare and frowned-upon. In my parents' generation, though, racism is definitely a problem.

Case-in-point: my mom, who hates Mexicans.

Not really, some of the older people here are slightly racist. Although I would say only about 7 kids in my whole school belong to an ethnic minority.

I live in Rich-White-People-Land. Unsurprisingly, yes there is.

At my High School, yes. Although it's not a serious problem, it's just kids being stupid.

Everywhere else, none at all.

I live in Barnsley. That alone should tell you all you need to know, however I have a feeling quite a few will be unfamiliar with the place so I'll give you another hint to the answer. Barnsley is pretty much the BNP HQ. I think they got the most votes for them from here. So yeah, racism and xenophobia runs quite frequently in the Town I live.

Luckily for me I was born white and in this country so I'm not a target of theirs however I do feel sorry for those that had the cheek, the audacity to be born the "Wrong colour". Having to walk past and hearing that shit being yelled from them probably isn't the highlight of their days.

That being said, we do have quite a few groups up trying to get them (The BNP) out of Barnsley so I guess its not all that bad, though Anti-fascists can sometimes be just as annoying as fascists.

No much here in my hometown(Some place in Maryland) . Maybe out more in the farmlands but those are out of the town's boundaries.

Though racial stereotyping is still extremely common here. Not all that bad or negative, but racial groups tend to stay together in groups.

Not here, I don't recall anyone ever saying anything like "die !"

Edit: by "here" I mean Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania.

Well, we have the English Defence League and British National Party everywhere.

And I genuinely thought people were becoming tolerant this millenium. Clearly not.

I'd rather walk past UAF shouting at racists to shut up than walk past racists shouting at Brown people.

Yes. Very much so. Especially by Canadian standards. I live in the ghetto of Windsor, so I witness it firsthand.

The problem in my area isn't really racism(although it may be a little bit), it's more of over-the-top stereotyping.
