I listen to a lot of radio in the car, and when I'm tired of listening to that I either plug in my ipod or a CD.

Most of the time I have it on when I'm going to bed, I can't sleep without some kind of background noise, and why not have it as music!

It wakes me up when i need to go to work early...that's pretty much it.

But when i drive...Capital FM is going to be on all the time...AND NO ONE WILL CHANGE IT! >.<

I often use my MP3 player, but I also like listening to the radio, it makes me feel connected to the rest of the world. I also like how I don't know whats coming on next, even if I put my MP3 player on shuffle, I still put all the songs on there, and know what I'm getting. with the radio I can end up hearing a song I never knew about. It also has alot more storage space :p

The only time I listen to radio is when I have someone in my car who doesn't share my taste in music, cause I'm considerate like that even though sometimes my sister is that person and she annoys the shit out of me with her pop bullshit.

I don't listen, no. But Radio plays are classy as hell! If they ran those regularly I think I'd have some incentive.

I'm a pretty active musician, and I need to take a break from listening to music every so often. Talk/news radio is a GODSEND for whenever I need to drive somewhere.

Also, a good talk radio station in the morning as I drive to work is as warm and comforting as a cup of coffee.

For music? Not so much. We have not one, not two, but 4 virtually identical radio stations that play the same songs over and over again. Occasionally, I'll listen to classical, jazz, or oldies if I need a music fix but for anything else, I'll make my own CDs.

If radio wanted to win more listeners, some stations should diversify the playlists a bit.

Yes, I listen to radio online a lot. There are several websites with radio stations from all over the world broadcasting lots of different genres from baroque to jazz to blues. There's one station in particular out of Italy which I like.

Online "radio" is awesome. Lots of good shows, music stations and whatever you like whenever. Between regular programming, podcasts and streaming I think the internet has taken audio-only media to a new level.

I generally don't listen to commercial radio at all, ever. But I do listen to a ton of podcasts, several of them from NPR, while I'm walking or working or cooking. Choose-your-own radio is probably the best invention since the internet for changing my daily life-- I'm up all night, so getting to hear the best radio shows at the time I'm awake is wonderful.

I listen to CBC and 650 CKOM whenever I'm in the car (can't stand modern pop anymore so I never listen to FM stations anymore). If I'm not checking out the news, listening to a CBC documentary played over the air or listening to a political discussion; I've got my CD's.

Radio is still relevant to me and I would be furious if they stopped broadcasting free radio.

I haven't listened to the radio in years. Even then, I never really saw the appeal anyway. I'd rather listen to my own music.

That said, I could see satellite radio being much more appealing. I'm sure I could find a station that would cater more to my tastes. I'd also listen to some news or talk radio, provided I could find something interesting to me.

I listen to independent radio in Melbourne, mostly 3RRR and 3PBS. I also listen to the national broadcaster's talk-back station during work hours. They do traffic reports during peak hours, and the talk-back callers are better than a police scanner for hearing about story opportunities.
